So, just got a new computer, (laptop) I downloaded xsplit because I've used that in the past for live streaming. I didn't like their new system, and I've heard that OBS is better? So I have it downloaded, and I want to stream in high quality with no lag. Can you help me with that? I am going to be using an HD PVR to stream my xboxone onto twitch. Here are the specs on my computer and my internet:

5th Generation Intel Core i7-5500U Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 4MB)
AMD Radeon R9 M275 2GB
8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L 1600 MHz
1TB 5400 rpm

720@30 could work fine for your laptop CPU, but then again, your laptop might not have enough power to push even 720@30; try it out and see. Set the bitrate and buffer to 2500. If you have high CPu usage warning, I would attempt to try quicksync to which I would say raise the bitrate +500 when using hardware encoders. This means 720@30 will need 3000 buffer and bitrate. post your logfile from the help menu after you do this and I can help you further tweak it.

Thanks man, that looks great, and from what I was viewing on the other pc there wasn't any lag. I was streaming in a step down from 720, looks a lot better. would it help at all if I bumped it up to 3000 bitrate? I have it currently on 2500.

616p? no, 2500 should be fine, but you could go up to that, just ask your viewers if it causes buffering, if it does, back off the bitrate.
