Question / Help HDMI Switcher = No Signal With Avermedia C985

I am currently trying to set up my Avermedia C985 for streaming and recording in a way that makes it so I don't have to keep plugging in and unplugging HDMI cables.

I have my Wii U setup to the switcher as the only thing in one of the three inputs
I will be adding the mini NES when it launches as the second input to the switcher so that I will be able to switch to either console and then stream or record with the capture card without messing around with cables.

The current way I am trying to go about this is;
Wii U > HDMI Switcher > Avermedia C985 > TV

Doing so though causes nothing to pick up a signal, I have checked all the cables, if I got straight from the Wii U to the C985 I get a signal to the device and TV, If I go from the Wii U to the HDMI switcher to the TV (so no C985 in the middle) I get a signal.

Does anyone have a work around? Please help

Thank You

I don't have any issues with my HDMI Hub, which is a cheap 3-1 hdmi switcher - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040G7TAY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use it with my AverMedia Live Gamer HD between Wii U, Xbox One and PS4, a simple click of the button on the HDMI Hub switches to the next console without issues as long as they are setup this way: PS4 using restmode, Xbox One in instant on/do not turn off automatically and WiiU ***not*** in quickstart ---- this is just so the PS4 gets captured(or else it flickers) and seems stable switching between them all.

No idea if you are using the same one or a different one but certainly your issue is the HDMI hub you are using, they don't all work the same and I can assure you AverMedia or Elgato or StarTech or wte other company capture card you are using they will refuse to help you out on this issue because its not their hardware(I have already contacted them for relating things before - they can only suggest help if its something they sell or endorse)... so I'd guess buy another hdmi hub for testing.

HDMI Matrix 4x2 (4 input, 2 output) should be good, one output goes to TV, the other goes to capture device, without needing to use HDMI passthrough and without having to power up your computer. For HDMI Matrix, both outputs can separately select the same or different inputs.

Edit: I now see this topic is 1 year old, bumped by a user above me.
