Question / Help Having trouble streaming

I have been streaming at 720p 30 fps for a while now. And i wanted to go up to 60 FPS because i noticed my stream wasn't smooth enough. But when i did i noticed on OBS that the FPS counter wasn't always at 60 i was always around 37-44 or even lower. I never dropped any frames from what i saw. I did notice when i disabled my webcam that my fps did increase a bit. My webcam quality is at 960x720. The camera that i am currently using is a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920. I am not able to keep a steady 60 fps while streaming for some reason. I am gaming on a 2560x1440 144 hz montior if that does make a difference.

Close bandicam as it is affecting the OBS game capture hook. second, try running the base resolution down to 1920x1080 then downscaling to 720.

in both cases, the evidence as to why you are not able to sustain 60fps is in the video thread frame.

If i try changing the base resolution down to 1920x1080 and downscale it to 720 everything looks zoomed in. And im still at low fps. Around 31-35 at max if im playing a game that requires a lot.

monitor temps for throttling, that CPU is know to be hot. OBS will use all cores so understanding that with gaming should push you to 80-90% but overclocked to 4.5 and only doing 720@60, you should have plenty of room. except with the division. that game eats CPUs for lunch

Sorry about this i am pretty new to this when you mean edit game capture source to be smaller what do you mean by that? By going to properties of the game and clicking stretch image to screen? And another question having my custom resolution to 1920x1080 won't that make my computer work more harder or is that incorrect? Why have it set lower than what i have my regular resolution. And when i checked temps when streaming it never passed over 82 C

This game "Division" may be using up way too much graphics power especially at very high resolution, which may force other programs like OBS to wait a long time for graphics card to get done drawing a frame to allow GPU to CPU transfer. Can try lowering game's resolution to 1920x1080 or 1280x720. Maybe use lower graphics quality in game.

Can try OBS-Multiplatform maybe, or try a different game. Dual PC stream/record with capture card will help.

lower resol uses up more CPU if fps are higher due to DX11 draw calls. in your case, I dont know if 1440p is where you need to be for such a new-unoptimized game. I say this because I know the benches for The Division and they are not good

I noticed my FPS counter would be always around 55-60 fps when i had my custom resolution at 1920x1080 and when i stretched image to screen (still not sure if thats what you meant about edit the game capture source to be smaller). When i tried playing this exact same game on 2560x1440 on my custom resolution my fps counter would not go above 44. I was monitoring the temps on my CPU and it did not go above 77 C. I do have an air cooler on my CPU. GPU temps did not go above 71 C. Oh and my CPU usage did not go above 65%

that custom resolution is fine now. I would rebuild your game capture would be the easiest way to rescale it, yes those buttons you hit are correct but the size of the scene might still be at 1400p.

Id take care of that heat issue especially since only 65C is putting you at 77C CPU temp. GPU temps are fine though...

that custom resolution is fine now. I would rebuild your game capture would be the easiest way to rescale it, yes those buttons you hit are correct but the size of the scene might still be at 1400p.

Okay i see so my temps are too high. Maybe it might be the fact that i only have 2 fans in my computer and they are in the front. How exactly would i rebuild my game capture to rescale it so it wont be at 1440p? Delete the game capture scene and re make while my custom resolution is at 1920x1080 and then click stretch image to fit in screen? I did notice yesterday that my OBS kept crashing when my webcam was on. Every time i try turning my webcam on OBS would stop responding as well. And how i stated as above from before that when i took my webcam off my FPS would increase as well. My fps counter would never drop below 60 while my webcam was off while playing certain video games like Smite and World of Warcraft while the custom resolution of 1920x1080. I have encountered some problems with my webcam while turning on OBS before as well. For example the lighting would be all messed up and everything would be super dark and fuzzy at times.

CPU hot? Maybe turn off overclock and turn off turbo boost? (may be controlled by motherboard settings)

OBS 60fps works fine without webcam? Maybe try reducing webcam resolution to 640x480?

Personally, I would just ensure that you clean and reapply thermal paste. typically, you want push pull with more push than pull. right next to the CPU, there should be a place to mount a fan (typically 80mm to 120mm fan mount). I'd push air with two fans from the front and pull with 1 fan from the back.

If possible. post a logfile with you in the same game and possibly the same area and play for 5 minutes, then stop/start the recording and do it without the webcam.

you might need to update your chipset, USB3.0, network and audio drivers from your motherboard's manufacturer's website. these are the best drivers to use if you can find ones for windows 10.

I just stressed test my CPU with AIDA64 my temps went all the way up to 92 C. I believe i applied too much thermal paste i will have to re put the thermal paste again. Once i have done this i will try to stream again and see the outcome. I will post logs soon.

I have notice my processor max speed is at 3.6 ghz for some reason. And i have no idea how to change it. I tried going to my bios and changing it but it won't let me.

What is your motherboard name and model?

If you are measuring package temps 74.04C is the max at the IHS. if measuring core temps, that it different.

My motherboard is an Asus Z97-AR. When i went to my bios settings and try to restore all settings to default i have like 10 different things that are getting changed and not entirely sure if that is okay for my computer. When it comes to things like this i haven't really done this much.

If you are measuring package temps 74.04C is the max at the IHS. if measuring core temps, that it different.

Yeah im measuring the package temps. I downloaded IntelProcess Diagnostic and i passed all the tests besides the CPU frequency test. Every time it comes up to that test i always fail. It shows my frequency will not go above 3.6 when its suppose to be at 4.0

Heat. you need to completely deal with that issue. so either your cooler (or fan) is crap or maybe there was a bubble on the IHS where you put the thermal paste.

EDIT: I will also mention to make sure you properly clean the surface of all other pastes and do not reuse any older paste. I use rubbing alcohol and ear swabs then reapply a thin layer on the CPU's IHS with an old credit card. then I place an extremely thin line on the heat sink and press down evenly from the center out. and as sam said below, make sure if using stock fan to unlock and pull out all 4 prongs then turn clockwise prior to putting the headsink on. then align the IHS as stated above and find the mounting holes for the 4 posts. After you find them, click the 4 posts in with an X pattern then pull up on posts to ensure proper locking. you should hear a click each time.
