Question / Help having lag problems since installing win 10

I wouldn't have expected something like OBS to be ready for windows 10 prior to the actual release. Obs was buggy w/ win 8 for a while, I'd suspect compatibility with windows 10 is a priority but it isn't a priority to release until windows 10 is actually out.

dunno after win8 was released (same for win8.1) i never had problems with obs

win10 on the other hand is not yet released but in theory it should not into much problems

OBS barely worked w/ windows 8 when it was initially released. There was tons of issues, I spent more time fixing streams that week than I could have ever believed. Xsplit didnt work well either for that matter. I can't speak firsthand on anything else.

That log lists Windows 8 as the windows version, you sure that was from windows 10?
This could be because its a developer version, similar to Windows 7 "black", if its 2ndary o.s. or just commented from your upgrade path it could show as the wrong O.S.
This could also be because they've just installed windows 10 ontop of everything and left a mess in there.

i installed win10 insider preview (clean install) this weekend ... ran normal obs and multi and had not a single issue.

seems like the problem is within your installation

I had two issues reguarding Windows 10. first, game capture and window capture tend to lower the in-game performance of some games, source games is the best example of this, like l4d2. the capture in-itself works great, its the performance hit when hooking it.

My theory is, Windows 10 has done away with some parts of Aero (not sure exactly what OBS uses inside of Aero), but they removed some of the transparencies and glass that we saw in Windows 7. Aero still shows enabled in OBS regardless\\

Second issues is with the newest build build 10240 where they enabled the xbox app and, in particular game DVR, which enforces desktop vsync (not really an OBS issue) but the game dvr in itself is yet another hook that creates a game overlay for all full screen games. This can be disabled by pressing start then typing xbox, clicking settings on the bottom left (the gear) then the DVR tab, turning of GameDVR at the top.

Other than the above issues, I am able to capture games in windowed mode with monitor capture 720@60 medium preset with almost no game impact.

after some testing i do had noticeable performance impact in league of legends but every game running off source engine had no exceptional performance hit at all though.
