Question / Help Hard Framedrops: Gaming PC -> Elgato -> Streaming-Laptop

Hey there,

I just got my Laptop and my Elgato HD60 which I want to use to stream my games from an alternative PC.
The problem: When in Action-Gameplay, OBS drops down to 9FPS. Which is weird, because I thought that Elgato would do most of the encoding, and I also made sure, that I am using the right encoding settings.

My Gaming PC gives a DVI Signal to my 1st Monitor, and an HDMI Signal to the Elgato, which is the same one my 1st monitor receives. The Elgato then delivers the usb Signal into my Laptop.
The Laptop has got the latest drivers and versions of OBS, Elgato Game Capture, you name it.

Laptop Specs:
CPU: i7-4700HQ @ 2.40GHz
RAM: 16GB
GPU: Nvidia 765M
Running Windows 8.1

Upload of 5,000 Kbit/s

OBS Settings:

Encoder
x264
CBR: Check
CBR padding: Check
Max Bitrate: 3500 kbit/s
Audio: AAC@48Hz | Bitrate: 128 stereo

Video
1600x900
60fps
Was hoping to get 1080p/60fps, changed resolution down to 900p, still had massive framedrops.

Advanced
Using Multithread Optimization: Check
Prioirty: Normal
Deactivate coding while preview: ncheck
x264 CPU: veryfast
encoding profile: main
Using CFR: Check

Everything else is unchecked.

I hope this is enough information for you guys to help me out. I thought that the i7 easily could take care of encoding and streaming the video signal, since it doesn't have to render the game anymore. My Gaming PC has an i5-4670k and I could stream games @ 720p/30fps, but my games would have framedrops. Now OBS seems to cause them on my external streaming laptop. Can you guys help?

Thanks in advance!

Nik

Appreciate the detailed message above, but a log with a description is always better. post the link to the log here.

the streaming PC still has to do all the work but the Elgato HD60 just provides the video source for the stream PC to do its magic.

Code:
Supported resolutions: 1080p (simultaneous 60 fps pass-through and 30 fps capture)

the HD60 from my understanding can take a 1080@60hz screen but captures at 1080@30fps

Alright,

I believe this is the log, right?

I think you read the description of the old Elgato. They put it on their website in a really confusing way. (https://www.elgato.com/en/gaming/game-capture-hd60)

I believe the left part of the table are the specs for the new HD60, the right one is for the old one. So the new Elgato does support:
  • Supported resolutions: 1080p60, 1080p30, 1080i, 720p60, 720p30,
    576p, 576i, 480p
Thanks for the quick reply.
What do you think might be the matter?
The CPU can easily get 720p30, but already has problems with 720p60, I'm really confused. Is the CPU simply not that great?
