Question / Help GTX 780 - Game Capture - Black Screen

Hi all,

I am using Game Capture to try to record a game running in fullscreen.

Everytime I try I get nothing but a black recording but the audio is captured.

I am using a desktop PC:

Intel i7 4770K
NVidia GTX 780
16GB Memory
Windows 8.1 Pro

I am using the latest NVidia drivers - v353.30 (not beta).

I have a scene with a Game Capture set, I am running OBS before I start the game. Once the game is running I Alt-Tab to OBS and go to properties of Game Capture and select the game I am trying to record (Batman: Arkham Knight) and click Start Recording. I then Alt-Tab back into the game and play. When I watch back the video there is nothing but a black screen with game audio.

I only have 1 GPU in my computer and the GPU is correctly selected in the OBS settings. Base resolution is set to 1920x1080 and I am using x264.

If I set the game to run in Windowed Mode and try a Window capture that works fine but I don't want to capture a lower res windowed game.

How can I make fullscreen recording work?

thanks

EDIT:

I have also tried other games and the same black recording occurs in those also.

Monitor capture is interesting... it captures the desktop and everything up until I launch a game. The second the game comes up and fills the screen the recording goes black. There seems to be something wrong with how OBS is hooking into fullscreen games.

Tried with game capture and using the hotkey method?
Tried with game capture with the game in borderless windowed ?

Why do you talk about hooking when using monitor capture, that source does not hook into games.
And it also can't capture games running in fullscreen mode, you will need to use game capture.

Yes I've tried both. A lot of games don't have a borderless windowed mode. Window mode does work though.

Just my terminology that's all. I have tried Game Capture mode, it does not work, all I get is a blank black recording.

The only time I can get a game to record is if the game is running in Windowed Mode.

Any game I run in Fullscreen mode, regardless of which capture type I try, all that records is a blank black screen with audio.

Upload a log from when you were using game capture, probably some hooking conflict.
As requested, here is the log.

Windows capture works (desktop etc) but Game Capture just records a black screen with audio.

I also ran the "Analyse Log" function within OBS, told me there were no issues found. Hopefully you can spot something wrong but the log looks ok to me.

You were still using monitor capture in that log, mayb that's on top of the game capture source.
I found that on youtube someone claimed that was the fix but it didn't help, I've tried without, with just game capture and there is no difference all I get is black recordings
