Question / Help Good upload speed, low bitrate yet very much buffer

Hey, I have 10mb/s upload, and I cant seem to have over like 1200kb/s bitrate without the stream starting to buffer!! I should be able to have atleast 5000kb/s with that upload speed?.. Is there any settings in OBS that causes this or can it be my internet being unstable, not delivering a true 10mb/s upload in other words?

It really bothers me cause I cant stream FPS games cause there's too much movement with that low amount of bitrate.. Please help me, give me feedback or w/e :(

If you have that good of an upload then your bitrate shouldn't be the problem. Like Delta said, post a log file so people can look at it and see what your settings are. If you don't know how just click help in the OBS software, log files, and either open it as a .txt and save it then attach it or copy it and paste it as a reply.

Don't use a custom buffer size, just let OBS pick the buffer for you. Also, don't stream above 3500kbps.

As for the buffering, it's mainly an issue with your connection to the Twitch distribution server. It doesn't happen to everyone who watches your stream. You can see if streaming to a different server helps, or lowering your bit rate, but there's not a lot you can do. Again, not everyone who watches your stream will have this problem.

Well thats the thing, I cant seem to go over 1200kb/s without buffer.. I dont want to go any lower, everyone seem to be able to stream in around 3000 with the same internet.. I live 35km from the nearest server, Stockholm. Cant get any better than that can it? Doubt Paris or somewhat could be better? :s

Mkay so I did actually try on Hitbox.tv, and yeah it kinda did work.. 5s delay and never buffer.. But that shouldn't really matter, I cant see anyone else on twitch buffer like I do.. Can it really be because im not partnered? Do they really have that kind of restriction? I mean how are people supposed to stream FPS games non-partnered without buffering and not keeping up with the game due to the low bitrate you need in order to NOT buffer? :( ...

I don't know why you're having that issue. I have been streaming Call of Duty: Black Ops ll and Ghosts, and The Last of Us just fine, but of course different situations have different results. In my case I use a Roxio Game Capture HD Pro with the Window Capture (which still looks great IMO), but I use Quick Sync with a 2500 buffer/max bitrate and it's downscaled to 1.50 on the fastest speed preset. It's also 30 fps and when I stream I never get buffering issues. Considering you have a better PC than my laptop (i5-2430M 2.4GHz 4gb RAM Intel HD 3000 graphics), you should definitely be able to handle great stream settings. As for twitch, if you're not partnered then streaming at 720p or higher seems to buffer for mobile users due to mobile not being able to handle it too well (depends on the device). That's why I downscale to 1.50 because it not only helps on my end CPU wise, but it also helps on the streams end because they can view it and the quality is still great. I hope you figure it out, good luck!

I have like you, 1080p downscaled 1.5 to 720p, fastest speed preset and 30fps.. You have a capture card but I should be able to do 720p 3000 bitrate with my PC and 10mb/s upload shouldn't I?

I'll have to do more research.. Im like totally depressed and shit, if I got the stream working I'd be so happy but this, this is just madness :/

Yes, you should easily be able to do those settings. If my crap laptop can do good enough, yours should be fine. At the same time, there could be something wrong with the twitch servers. Lots of people seem to be having issues lately. I streamed yesterday and it was fine for almost 2 hours, then out of nowhere I started getting huge FPS drops, then it cleared out. For all we know it could be them working on something on their end causing issues, hopefully we find something out.

Yeah.. I guess.. I'll wait some time and test-stream everyday to see if anything's getting better at some point! Ty man

i have been using obs and when i start opening obs and a browser, my speed drops form a 2.04 Ghz to a 0.50 Ghz in a matter of seconds; Also i want to boost up my stream quality so i run on 3500 bitrate and my upload speed is a 88,57 mbps is that ok or should it be changed?
