Question / Help Get game audio + Skype without VAC?

Hello, I am new to livestreaming with OBS, but I want to have a Skype/Hangouts/Teamspeak voice call with a friend while streaming. I want the watchers to be able to hear the game audio, as well as our conversation since we will be playing together. I tried using VAC and it was needlessly complicated as well as very expensive. I used the trial version, but there was of course limitations of hearing the word "trial" played every 10 seconds and that would be wildly disruptive to my stream.

Is there anything I can do to be able to get my watchers to hear his side of the conversation? So far, I can just hear my game audio and my voice, not his from the other end of the Skype call.

Well OBS should hear anything you send to the sound device that is selected in the obs audio settings. So default for example uses your windows default playback device etc..
If you get no skype sound although its using the same device I am not totally sure why. I would check that exclusive mode is definitely deactivated for your soundcard.

What exactly did you try to do with VAC in this case? (although I must say 25€ is not that much for the options and functionality it gives you)

Well OBS hears Skype, but not the other end of the call for some reason. Meaning that the people watching my stream can hear me, and my game, but not who I am talking to on Skype.

I ended up just setting my skype playback to play through my desktop speakers and just turned up that volume so that it was picked up on my microphone on my headset. It sounded okay, but there has to be a way to do it all through the headset, right?

I still haven't found a solution other than just playing the skype receiving call audio through my desktop speakers and having my headset pick it up. It's okay, but i'd really rather have a real fix if possible. Thanks

if your using a headset that has a separate chat volume (for example i use turtlebeach Z22s), the skype call will send volume through the second set of speakers, while the OBS program is only obtaining audio from the main source (excluding your mic), hopefully my wording makes sense to you
