Question / Help Game Source black screen - not a laptop.

My OBS worked perfectly fine until today when I decided to update to the recent version.

Running game source just provides a black screen. I have attempted multiple games and run into the same issue. I am not using a laptop. I have one graphics adapter.

I am not an expert on these things but I have gone through logs from previous streams where it worked fine. There is usually info about it hooking into the game process. However, in the recent ones with the black screen issue it is not attempting to hook the process. I cannot figure out why.

I have downgraded to the multiple previous versions of OBS but the issue remains there as well. Monitor and window capturing works fine as well.

I'll also mention that my Nvidia drivers are up to date and also that I have Xsplit and it runs game source fine so I assume there is no driver issue.

Here is my log file from a recent test using WoW:

Hm, doesn't seem to be picking up world of warcraft 64bit.. again. I have no idea what on earth is going on with that game. Does this happen with other games?

Something must be interfering in that case then. Perhaps another graphics-related or capture-related program active? Overlay program? Do you have logs from other games?

Yeah. I just tried with a few others:

The logs all look the same. I have checked and double checked to make sure there would be nothing else interfering with the capture but I can't find anything. I have even tried the game source option on Xsplit to just check and see if there was something interfering but it worked fine on there. I would rather use OBS though.

This only started after I updated OBS but the issue remains now even if I downgrade.

Normally the captureHookLog is filled with information. For whatever reason mine are not. After the half life scientist line there should be info about it hooking into the game process but it isn't even attempting to do that. I cannot figure out why.

Last game capture log:
2014-02-22, 21:08:22: we're booting up:
21:08:22: CaptureThread: attached to process SC2.exe
21:08:23: D3D9 Present
21:08:23: DXGI Present
21:08:23: NV Capture available
21:08:23: FBO available
21:08:23: GL Present
21:08:23: (half life scientist) everything.. seems to be in order

I managed to fix the issue and figured I would post an update in case anyone else has run into it.

I had installed and used "d3doverrider" to fix some issues with Assassin's Creed 4 a while back. After uninstalling this program and restarting the PC the game source option in OBS worked properly again.

I'm not really sure why it was a problem because it was not open or even running as a process. Anyway, if anyone else runs into this problem I hope this helped.

Had a feeling it was some program interfering. Thanks for the info.
