Question / Help Game capture without capture card ?

Hi everyone,

This might be a really stupid question but im a stupid guy so ill ask anyway

I want to live stream ps4 gameplay to twitch.

I know that you need a capture card to record footage but if im only interested in streaming using obs can I skip the capture card and just use hdmi to usb adapter/cable from ps4 to pc ? again sorry if that's a stupid question

No. you need the capture card

You can stream to twitch right out of the ps4 i think

You can use the console-native streaming to get yourself up on Twitch but it's very low quality, and you can't 'grab' it for use with OBS (and the extended features that Jake probably wants). For OBS, you need a capture card.

Console-native is mostly for trying out streaming to see if you'll enjoy it... toe-dipping, so to speak. No serious streamer will use it if they have another option available, as it's so functionally rudimentary and generally bad.
