Question / Help Game capture source

Is there a way to set up a source that will automatically pick up any game I'm playing (so I can just jump in and record), or do I have to make a source and/or scene for each game individually?

You can set a hotkey for the game capture source.

you still have to grease the wheels first. Once that is done, it will look for that exe file to hook next time its open.

setup game capture sources for each game you play and label them as such. after that you can just select the one you want (via hotkey or just by selecting one).


it works like this because if OBS just tried to pick up any game you have open, what would happen if you had two open or it got your browser mixed up with a game and streamed your browser instead. For those reasons you have to select a hook.

well TBH, you dont want to preview in OBS enabled or watching from a browser as it will lag your game even on high end PCs, but yes, 2 even 3 screens for streaming is nice.

I, myself use livestreamer and VLC to watch from my own PC. it doesn't lag system doing it this way

I don't plan on streaming (at least not yet) just recording
