Question / Help Game capture shows black screen but still audio?

Hello, I have been trying to capture gameplay with OBS using the Game Capture source (File output only) and saving it to my desktop, but with every game I play all I get is a black screen with the game audio. This is the same when I preview my game capture and with every game I try, whether I play Battlefield, Farcry or even Peggle. Please help in anyway you can and suggest anything and as many things that might work. I have v0.591b Thanks :D

It's probably not an issue with the update. There are a lot of things that could cause a black screen. In this case, it looks like it's because he is trying to capture at too high of a resolution for his GPU, which is quite old.

ReDAnT, your CPU and GPU are woefully underpowered for the settings you are trying to record at.I recommend downscaling to 360p, lowering to 25fps, and raising your x264 preset to ultrafast. See if that helps you capture and encode at all.

Moved to Questions and Help.

It still only shows a black screen with the game audio on all my games :( I remember trying this with fraps and it worked perfectly.

Are you running OBS as administrator?

Also your GPU is still bucking under the load the OBS is putting on it...OBS uses the GPU to do a lot, and I don't think your GPU is up for the challenge, unfortunately.

This appears to be a permissions issue (meaning you may have to run it as administrator), but it could be out of date drivers or perhaps the device is too old and the feature isn't working correctly. It's a (relatively) older model of video card, though I *think* it should work fine still.

I have tried running it as administrator and nothing changes, i have tried researching this problem but nobody seems to have a fix. Might there be an older version of OBS that game capture works on? Because it might just be this build
