Question / Help Game Capture is Black Screen (my game is in borderless windows mode)

Game capture worked when I first tried to set up OBS (I just downloaded OBS), but an hour later when i tried to stream, game capture stopped working ..

video capture and monitor capture are both working just fine.


my game (dota 2) is in borderless mode. and im using a win 8 laptop 64 bit

If you're on a laptop and get a black screen, especially with a game like dota, it means you are just using the wrong adapter - we made a sticky post about it here: http://obsproject.com/forum/threads/laptop-black-screen-when-capturing-read-here-first.5965/

The easiest way to deal with it of course is to just go to nvidia's control panel in windows control panel, go to 3D settings on the left, click the "global" tab on the right, and set the drop-down below that to nvidia (performance). It'll fore all programs on the computer to run on the nvidia, hopefully eliminating the issue.
