I've tried all possible solutions the internet gives me and I have no idea what's wrong. The audio works, display capture works, the window capture was wobbly but I got that to work, but the game capture is always just a black screen. I don't know what to do and I just want to record Minecraft for my friends

You need to run OBS on the same GPU that is running your game. You're running OBS on your integrated GPU. This is correct for desktop capture, but not window or game capture.

I have no idea what you just said. Like, step by step, what do I do to fix it?

If you've made the changes and still can't get those features to work, post a logfile from an attempt after making the changes.

22:38:59.256: executable: Microsoft.Photos.exe

I don't know that that app can be game captured. Its not a game. Do you have a logfile where you actually try to capture a game you want to capture?

22:38:59.268: - source: 'Browser' (browser_source)
22:38:59.268: - source: 'Audio Input Capture' (wasapi_input_capture)
22:38:59.268: - source: 'Audio Output Capture' (wasapi_output_capture)
22:38:59.268: - source: 'Media Source' (ffmpeg_source)
22:38:59.268: - source: 'Display Capture' (monitor_capture)
22:38:59.268: - source: 'Game Capture' (game_capture)

22:38:59.268: - source: 'Window Capture' (window_capture)

Don't have multiple full screen captures in the same scene. Display and Game should not be in the same scene. They can interfere with each other.

I have no idea what more to do.

Create a new scene with your game capture and another with your display capture. Also try running as administrator.

I'm at a complete loss. I've watched multiple so called "fixes", read through about 14 forums and another 4 reddit groups, and none of them have solved my issue. I try to set up game capture, nothing, zilch, zip, nada. I try to set up a DISPLAY capture, nothing. I can use my capture card just fine, but when it comes to recording games that are ON my PC, I get nothing no matter what I try. Yes, I have display and game capture in different scenes. Yes, I have OBS and HU2010 running on the same GPU. Nothing is helping and it's really pissing me off to be completely honest. I would PAY MONEY to have this issue solved, and its frustrating, because everybody is pretending that there's just a magic fix. "Oh, I had the exact same problem and this video helped me". To hell it did, the video tutorials did nothing. Windows 7 compatibility mode? Didn't work. Turn off gaming mode in settings? Didn't work. Run as Administrator? I'd be so lucky as to have that work. Nothing after nothing after nothing has worked, I genuinely feel like I'm being mocked.

Check if my workaround works for you, or at least if setting window capure method manually to 'Windows Graphics Capture' works;

Bro! I have got the same problem and I have tried everything from running on dedicated graphic card to using version 14 and nothing is working. Nothing!!! I can use window capture but the game capture is just darkkk. Help please!!

damn same as me right now. I can use display and window capture even though my obs is running with Nvidia gpu. Only game capture should work and it's not.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I had this same issue a few days ago (tried all the suggested fixes to no luck) and then was randomly clicking around when it suddenly worked for me. Here's all the things I did:

I made sure I had done the already suggested fixes I've found through various websites:
-Change Nvidea GPU to High Performance for OBS (same as the one running my game)
-Run Compatibility for Win 7
-Run as Administrator
-Made sure to delete the Source and retry making it
-Made sure to restart OBS after trying a fix
-Restarting my laptop with all current drivers and updates installed

And then the random new thing I did:
-In the Source Properties window for Game Capture (I'm using "Capture specific window"), there are some checkboxes underneath. With the game playing in the background, I literally checked and unchecked every single one until the game popped up on the preview screen for me. The ones that ended up being checked when this happened are:
-- SLI/Crossfire Capture mode (Slow)
-- Capture Cursor
-- Use anti-cheat compatibility hook
(Note: There was like a second or 2 delay before the game popped up on the preview screen for me, so give some time before trying another check)

Not sure if it was the checking and unchecking of certain boxes, or something else happened, but clicking that one SLI checkbox did it for me. Also not sure if any one thing did it for me since I didn't approach fixing this by changing one variable at a time, but maybe this will help someone else since I was also at my wits end, haha.

Have you found a solution to this yet? I know it’s kind of an old post but… I was having a similar issue. As “dumb” as this might sound, I heard that some older games won’t show up for some reason unless you run the game as “full screen windowed”. Well I tried this and it worked for me. I know it sounds way too simple, but maybe try it?

I have same Game Capture black screen error then I find out RivaTuner Statistics Server of MSI Afterburner cause this problem. Here is my solution to fix it:
1. Run OBS.exe as administrator
2. Add your game to Game Capture
3. Open RivaTuner Statistics Server -> Go to settings (or setup)
4. Tick at "Use Microsoft Detours API hooking"
5. Restart MSI Afterburner, game and your OBS will work this time.
