Question / Help Freezing Problem

So, I wanted to record CSGO on my new PC but AMD Raptr wasn't working (error 22 ffs) and I decided to give a shot on OBS because I heard great things but when i recorded, no lag ok, 300 normal fps on csgo, but when i watched the video, first 5 seconds were good, but then it just freezes and audio continues, I don't know why, my pc is good it's not it's fault (i5-4460 r9 380 4gb) so... what's the problem then?

no one can help you much without a logfile to see how your PC is handling the stream. Also make sure that you remove any launch options in CS:GO. primarily -threads and -high, those two are usually the problem. you only have 4 threads to split between CS:GO and the stream.

Hello, Thanks for the reply, I don't know what you mean by stream, but I'm not streaming, only recording, if you mean streaming, I'm not, I'm only recording.
When I try to get the log file (like you did on the GIF) OBS just plain crashes, IDK why.
I unistalled and installed OBS again, to try again, and this time i notices alot of lag, i Though OBS didn't affect performance as much as Fraps, maybe i'm doing it wrong, i went from 300 fps to 70 never constant fps, like 1 sec is 70 the other is 40 the other is 100, you know what I mean.

EDIT: I tried recording desktop work, like going to the browser and all that fun stuff and it worked, 60 fps and everything, the video looks kinda choppy and with bad image but that i'm sure i'll make it better messing with the settings, so this only happens when i play csgo, i haven't tried it in another game, i'll try it then, i'll post my results

close all other recording programs even if they are minimized by the clock in the lower right, raptr, xsplit, fraps etc.

yeah if you are local recording same thing, I still need a logfile

But how to I give you the Log File if it crashed OBS? is there any other way to obtain it?

after you restart the session go that same place but instead of curent log, send one of the older ones

so yeah, your cpu isn't fast enough to do 1080@60 with default settings. you will need to make some adjustments.

first, set custom buffer to 0
then preset to superfast (you might have to do ultrafast if its still freezing).

this will make files much larger but good quality and easy enough on your CPU to actuall record.


Another option is you can try the VCE build of OBS which your R9 380 has built in. this way, the CPU isn't even used.

or you can use OBS multiplatform which has VCE encoder instead of x264 built in.

both builds you will have to set a static bitrate and you cannot use the 0 custom buffer trick.

Thanks for everything, I will try what you said tomorrow, I have been messing with the Muitl version, and the video, with pretty much all the same settings hardly lags, only a few times were you can see the frames really drop, but its not that much, i only had one problem with the Multi version, and that was that i couldnt record sound, turns out i could, just couldn't hear from any Windows program like Windows media played (da fuq xD) but ill try messing with the things you just said on the original version, and even on the multi version, thanks so much for being the only one to actually help me. I tried it and it works! But the video kinda feels "choppy" i mean like you can see a lot of "squares" ill mess with the settings, but if you recommend anything i would apretiate. Thanks for everything

you tried what? VCE? settings are probably to high

Just one problem, yesterday i didn't had this problem, when i start recording, it strats fine, than it starts to lag )i see on that menu where the video appears) and than just stops recording, then OBS crashes and the video is not availeble (weird cause i tested it yesterday and it was fine, what can be the problem? ill send ya the log
