Question / Help Free audio filter?

I need an audio filter like adobe audition that filters out hiss in my mic. All i can find is editors but i need something that can filter into my stream with a virtual audio cable like you would with adobe audition. i cant afford adobe audition to use their audio filter.
 
The simple way is to get a better mic. Working around a bad signal can be painful and complicated and you will never come close to the quality of a good condenser mic.
The best & free option is Audacity - but its not so easy to set up.
 
We're going to eventually have filter support in the newer versions of OBS.
 
Just add VST support, this will be awesome. VST-plugins are pretty powerful and they dont eat so much memory&CPU-power compared to a full DAW like Ableton 9. VST can be anything - an instrument, effect or a vocoder (this is what people will love - change the voice on the fly without too complicated software used as a VST-host)...
 
This will be really nice, specially if you can add more than 1 VST to a single audio souce.
I`m thinking about a Filter/EQ, Limiter(great for people who like screaming pretty loud on the stream) and maybe a Vocoder, this will open a whole new world for the audio part of the livestream. It will be also possible to route other software (like "the Bridge" for Serato DJ & Ableton Live). I stream my DJ-Sets now and i have the luxury of hardware and laptop with software, but not everyone will have the money & space to set this up.

If they get VST support, you will be able to use all the professional plugins like filters, 8-band-EQ, limiter, effects and anything else. There is some free stuff too. Reducing noise is not easy, but there will be a way to do that.

I hope to find tutorials because filter out noise with VST is very very confusing and i dont trust the plugins i have to download.
 
First: VST is used for digital audio workstations and every big or small studio is using it right now if they have a PC there.
Second: VST-Plugins/Instruments are not the same like OBS-Plugins. They are complex, expensive (and there are some free versions too) and they made by professionals.
A VST is just a format for a plugin. It can be standalone (works just like a usual programm in Windows) or it will need a VST-Host running it.
Believe me, 99% of the music that you are listening to (the last 10 years at least) - pretty much any song have some sounds created by VST instruments or at least the software was used for mixing & mastering the song.
Many of this tools try to copy a well known piece of hardware like the legendary 80`s synthies.

Dont be confused - its complicated because its designed for people who know what they do, but you can trust it, people using this not only in the studio but also live as musicians and DJs - they cant afford a software crash while playing live :-)

Sure.
You can use hardware to route your mic through or you can get a better mic. Or find other audio software that can do it and route your audio input into that.
I prefer the VST method, right now using additional hardware (2 soundcards and ableton live 9 + midi controller OR a mixer).
Find your way to deal with audio :-)
