Question / Help Framerate issues...

Emulator runs a consistent 30fps, but when I go to check the local recording, it's extremely choppy. I'm not entirely clear on how to interpret the log files, but I've noticed that I have a lot of frames that are unaccounted for.

I've installed DX9 runtimes and that hasn't made a difference. I've also tried various configurations, lower bitrates, etc. Nothing has worked. I'm pretty much at my wits end here... This is a brand new desktop with a GTX-970 in it. I was getting better recordings w/ my old laptop that had a 660M. Can anyone help?

Tried configuring it as per the local recording guide but will ultrafast selected. Still very choppy. Still see lots of unaccounted for frames in the log file. :\

Sounds like its similar to a problem I have a lot. Is it doing something like skipping every other frame for a few seconds and then going back to normal, and repeating every so often?

I usually notice it happening with game capture much more often than window capture. I'm pretty sure game capture's timing is very inaccurate sometimes. For example, I can record Nestopia (window capture) in 60fps 100% flawlessly every time, no drops/dupes, but trying to record SM64 runs (30fps, game capture) in RetroArch results in a video that looks like it alternates between 30 and 15fps a lot, despite a clean log like yours. The funny part is its only the game capture that stutters; LiveSplit still captures at 30fps in the same video since its window captured.

If that's the case, the only thing I know of that may help somewhat is creating a custom resolution where the refresh rate is as close to 60.000 as possible, and try turning on VSync & triple buffering, though that means bad input lag most of the time. I use a 120Hz CRT here, so the input lag isn't quite as bad, but its still unplayable for me especially when doing speedruns.
