I have been having issues for a few weeks of tweaking OBS because I encounter frame rate drops while streaming & recording. I have to resort to asking you guys for help because this is a nuisance.
I have been recently been playing Smite, but often I play League, CSGO, and 7 Days to Die. In Smite, I averaged at around 100 fps but while streaming, I received high 70s fps. More importantly, League and 7 Days to Die is really noticeable in game play in which I experience major issues. While I play league, I get 80-140 fps but while streaming, it can decrease to 30-50 and it is really noticeable once I stream. I looked at a recording of a few minutes of game play and I do see the stuttering.
I tend to stream both at my own home (wireless) and college home (ethernet). My house has an upload speed of 4+ Mbps and college house is 5+ Mbps. Download speed is both ideally 60+ Mbps.
My laptop, Lenovo y50 4k UHD, uses Nvidia GTX 860M, i7-4700HQ CPU @ 2.40 Ghz, Intel HD Graphics 4600, 16gb of ram.
I do use the GTX 860M for OBS.
What optimal settings can I reach with this? I tried using NVENC in high quality and I can stream perfectly fine but the quality is not the same as x264. I even set bit rate to 1500 and even 2000 kb/s but still has frame rate issues. I want to stream at 720p @ 60fps without frame rate issues. Is it even possible to achieve this with Lenovo y50?
