Question / Help FPS stuck at 15, how to fix?

Hey guys, having some issues with my OBS! I've streamed for a couple of days now, not sure if this issue is something new or old, but noticed this today. I can see my FPS nearly being static on 15, sometimes dropping to 14, sometimes going to 16 on the botton bar next to frame drops etc. I've put the stream on 30 max FPS and 1080p. The people that are watching don't get any buffering issues or so, but I feel like the FPS actually looks pretty low.

Could it be that the FPS counter on the bar is showing false data, that my actual FPS is 30~? Don't understand why it would go up and down sometimes then.

So, I'll link my specs and post a few screenshots on my settings in OBS and see if you guys can see the problem, or if it even is a problem?

i5 2500k 3.3GHz
MSI GTX 670
2x6 GB RAM
64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate
64-bit OBS

I use game-capture, but even with the game turned off - I get 15 FPS. Altho if I use empty scene there is nothing.

I've tried with CFR on, only that so far, didn't change anything. I've tried running the program without any games open, still 15 FPS. So no idea what it could be.

Any help is very appreciated, I leave it to your expert hands! Hope I can get a bit smarter about OBS with this ;) Thanks!

make sure to post a log

i would guess that you are running windows 7 (since you have a changeable aero option) and you are trying to use monitor capture which is the worst capture method under windows7 especially with aero enabled

and on an i5 2500k depending on what game you play you have to downscale by ~1.5 (1280x720) since 1080p30 might be a bit heavy on the cpu

Sorry, I was more tired than I thought posting it. Yes this is Windows 7, and I'm using game capture - streaming Diablo 3 - which doesn't use too much of my CPU!

I noticed that if I have an empty scene without anything - I have 30 FPS. Running the things I have on my main scene gives 15. So I will try to shut off a couple of the added stuff in my scene and see what happens.

Okay, I seem to have found the problem myself. I have a monitor capture running on my 2nd screen to track donations - so basically I have 1858x59 coverage for that one. Why is it dropping my FPS so much? Any way I can solve this?

just disable aero

game capture works with aero disabled and enabled
yet monitor capture only works properly with aero disabled on win7

Ahh, god dammit. The guide I read thru said I shouldn't disable it, altho I did use window capture instead now and it solved the problem, so thanks anyway! Just swapped out Monitor Capture to Window capture and got it rolling on my normal FPS.

Meh, guess I should've tried a bit more on my own before making the thread - didn't want to mess things up even worse tho. Guess this thread can float on the internet for a future fellow with the same problem!

Thanks tho, alpinlol!

Yes, If you're using Window capture, it is recommended that you keep Aero enabled. If you are using Monitor capture, you will need to disable Aero.
