Question / Help FPS Spikes in Game and Stream is Slow

Hey all, so I am trying to fix a problem I have. I have been trying to find the right settings for a while. Nothing really helped.

I usually experience in League of Legends around 60 fps, no fluctuation. While having OBS on, I get a very slow preview stream, and the fps in game goes down to around 50-55, maybe more, maybe less.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I am using another monitor, but I am not streaming on it, I use it to look at chats and the internet while I play and stream League of Legends on my primary monitor.

Here is the log:

If the game's performance isn't satisfactorily fast enough for you while streaming, then you'll need to lower your streaming settings. I would start by streaming at 60fps rather than 30fps, as the doubling of stream frame rate greatly increases system load.

I changed it to streaming on 60 fps, and that made the gameplay worse. My fps in game fluctuated faster than before.

Crap, I meant change it to 30fps rather than 60fps, my mind got mixed up. Sorry about that.

Your log said you were streaming at 60fps already.

Hey I changed it to 30 fps and now it still fluctuates in game. The stream is still a bit choppy.

Here is the updated log:
http://pastebin.com/ET5kiNGg

The stream is choppy or the game is choppy?

12:15:48: Total frames encoded: 9873, total frames duplicated: 5 (0.05%)
12:15:48: Total frames rendered: 9879, number of late frames: 0 (0.00%) (it's okay for some frames to be late)

The log says your stream is running spectacularly well. If you're getting choppy gameplay despite this, you can try lowering OBS' processing priority.

In game the fps fluctuates and when that occurs, the game is appearing to be laggy. When I stream, the stream is choppy even without the fps fluctuation, but with the fluctuation its more choppy than normal.

I tried that too, and I receive high ping in game now. And I tried out Xsplit as another option to see how it works, and my cpu usage is much lower on xsplit rather than on obs. Is there any way I can change OBS settings to make my cpu usage lowered? I think that is the problem as to why I am getting high ping in game.

Post a log from the stream when you had high pings in-game from after you set the OBS priority lower. Maybe your bitrate is set too high.
