Well you said

but then said

So what were you using before you were using Dxtory.

And yes, I would like to have the full log of the stream when it was lagging.

Before dxtory I just got a screen region and ran it from the obs program with no second program.
This was during the lag.

I assume you mean you were using monitor capture. If you had Aero enabled (And I again assume you did) that would cause the significant amount of lag you had.

As well, OBS has a built in Game Capture that functions like Dxtory but is much more efficient and would likely give you even better performance :)

If i could piggyback on this thread and ask a real quick question, in the program it says that the game capture is still "experimental" and may not be stable. If i want to stream a game, is it better to run it in windowed mode and use software capture or to use the experimental game capture?

Game capture is generally nice and stable. The main problems with it is that sometimes it won't hook into a game (but this is fairly rare) or it will outright crash. Crashes usually happen with incompatible hooks like Teamspeak overlays or FPS monitors of some sort (such as MSI Afterburner/EVGA Precision) and disabling these can minimize most crashes.

From my own experience, the game capture is stable enough now that I don't seem to have OBS or the game crash from it. And it's a significant performance increase. The only issue is that you can't resize game capture, so in one of my scenes I use screen region, but I'm not actually playing the game, so a performance hit there isn't a big deal, as it's just the menu screen.
