Build: Intel Core i7-5930K, 3TB, 240 GB SSD, ASUS X99-A Motherboard, GTX 980 Ti, SuperNOVA 1000G2 1000W, Liquid Cooler, Corsair 780T Graphite Case

I've been researching for the past 7 hrs, but I can't get it to work

Basically, I can play every game at high FPS 144hz Monitor, but when I start to use OBS my FPS drops to 30-60 etc and I get pretty bad lag.

My CPU, Memory, Disk are all below 40% usage and I feel I have optimal settings.

updated all drivers tried reinstalling OBS multiple times nothing.

The only thing that works is resolution downscaling and I get a good stable video to run.

I've googled everything that came up on OBSproject basically around my problem but I don't think there is a single person with my problem because they all either have bad computers or some weird settings.

This was a last resort and I'll probably look tomorrow for answers, thanks.

EDIT: NVIDIA shadow play works with 144hz, so it has to do with something with your encoder, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO PLEASE HELP

your CPU is about the same as mine

I get at most 720@60 medium preset and 1080@60 veryfast/faster preset.depending on the game.

I think you are shooting for to much here. Overclocked you might be able to do more,

Are you planning on streaming with this rig? if so, 5900 bitrate will be to much anyway (3500 max) along with 1080@60 is not going to be easily viewable for viewers of non-partnered streams.

I would recommend downscaling to 720@60 and dropping the preset as much as you can (you might get to medium or even slow preset while overclocked. 3000-3500 bitrate depending on what your viewer say. If your viewers buffer. lower your bitrate.

This is going to be streamed but my old computer handled this with ease, I think there's just a bug with obs as shadow play Nvidia works or a driver thing. Or even the obs app data is bugged and I didn't Uninstaller it all properly. I'm not sure but it has to be a bug somewhere my comp isway powerful for this

Your old computer didn't use x264 to encode at faster preset so it is a very different story. If you want to compare apples to apples, change your new machine to NVENC and call it good.

x264 is software encoding which allows greater quality per same bitrate as well as the ability to go even one further by allowing you to lower your CPU preset to fast, faster.medium or even slow. the "slower" the preset, the much harder your CPU will need to work.

1080@60 is no easy beast as even with todays 8 core with hyperthreading can only go so far. more than likely those would be able to do 1080@60 with faster/medium preset.

encoding like this will make even the fastest PCs to their knees.

here's my old computer's specs and log files, this machine had 0 problems with streaming unless it was a big game like ark survival, right now im just testing streaming league offline recordings.

EDIT: literally i think you can solve this problem so i'm going to follow things that you tell me to do

The multiplatform version of OBS is indeed CPU heavy when previewing. I'm not sure why, but it seems like wasted resources.

Just doing nothing and monitor capturing gives me 40 FPS. It's not the games it has to do something with OBS and the encoder I think.

Bump, Devs I think this problem has to do with my CPU/Graphics Card but I'm not sure what could be going on...

I think I found your issue. its actually somewhat in the GPU. first, uninstall geforce experience mainly shadow play. make sure nothing is running. I mean minimal. now record, preview or whatever. this time, send me a link to your logfile in the help menu, dont copy past text. send me a link. again this can be uploaded from your help menu after you preview and/or record.

Code:
04:01:45: video thread frame - [100%] [avg time: 18.341 ms] [children: 96.4%] [unaccounted: 3.6%]

Here is just nothing happening in the scene, no sources: https://gist.github.com/f8efae8c9b6a02e8b86b

edit: uh im not sure how do to do that, but basically i've reinstaleld windows 3 times and tried going right to OBS and dl'ing it but still nothing, it has to do with the encoder of something im sure of it, also remember i've spent like the past 24 hours googling and trying different things to figure this out

im going to try installing windows 8 to see if that does anything by purchasing it

i've installed windows 8, but it didn't work

my CPU is i7-5930k, i'm going to say im gonna blame this processor for it as this seems to be the only thing that could possibly be holding me back

edit: I have reasons to believe that my CPU or GPU is defective, as none of this should be happening to be honest and I'm going to be doing some stress testing
