Are you streaming PC games or console games? If you are streaming PC games, with your hardware I wouldn't even bother with the capture card, to be honest.

The hardware is powerful the capturecard won't likely give you any boost in performance if you were streaming PC games. The only real use for the capture card would be if you were streaming console games.

OBS game capture is the best way to capture games that run DirectX 9 or higher. A capture card could be useful, still, for capturing DirectX 8 and lower games that don't have a Windowed mode, or capturing games that block game capture due to some sort of hack shield.

Have you tried using https://obsproject.com/estimator to find a good starting point for settings?

There's nothing wrong with using the capture card. It's actually great for some games like starcraft and league of legends that require multiple scenes to capture properly. A capture card would let you capture the entire contents of your screen without any extra scenes or configuration, with no extra impact on performance.

To start, you should use this tool http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmes ... _id=326034 to find your ideal streaming server since you're from Australia.

Second, you can use the estimator: https://obsproject.com/estimator to find good settings.

yeah i have used the estimator
i just dont know how to setup the capture card like i have it plugged in and everything
but in obs what resolution do i set the capture card to?
like on the device selection page its default is 1920x1080 15-30 fps
what do i put it on? or do i just leave it at default?

Generally you want to have the capture card and OBS be set to the same settings. Set everything in your capture card to 1080p30fps and everything in OBS to 1080p30fps.

but the obs resolution is different from the one in the capture card
example: obs 480 resolution is 852x480 whereas the capture card has 720x480, 848x480, 640x480 and 768x740. the closest is 848x480 but it makes the capture card not capture properly for some reason.
