Question / Help File Output Mode, .AVI instead of .MP4???

If you are just using 'File output Mode' is there a way to get the output file to be an .avi rather than .mp4. As alot of encoding progs seem to struggle with MP4 files?

One way to make sure programs are working better with mp4 files is to enable CFR.

What program is having trouble with your MP4s?

AviSynth AvsPmod. The preview video just chugs. It might be to the stupidly high bitrate of the output file though, its around 98450kbps for a 20 min video!!!

I'd like to second this. All i want to do is take the broadcast and run it through VirtualDub and turn the normal steam into a time lapse. Having to convert the file is just another annoying step. I love the Open Broadcaster makes it easy for me to do really robust screen casts and then gives me a file that I can upload, but MP4 is just such an unsupported format by so many editing programs.

It helps if your enable CFR on your recordings.

But it's possible this will be added in the future sometime. Keep your eyes on this.

I would like to change it to .avi because for some reason Windows Live Movie Maker and Camtasia Studio is not letting me even watch playback on the file
