Hey,
So a little background is that I used to stream a little bit around 3 years ago with an older, worse pc. Those streams worked fine and I didn't have any issues. I also used obs studio back then as well. I could run games at my normal fps (maybe a little lower) with no noticeable lag and no crashes.
Recently I decided I wanted to startup and try streaming again, this time with a much beefier computer so I thought that my quality would be better but now it is worse than ever. I tried doing the obvious fix of changing fps of my monitor to 120, I used a window capture source instead of game or display source. I tried creating a new scene with only the window capture source but nothing helped. For example I normally get around 200-250fps in something like CS2 (easy to run game that gives me high fps) running 1440, but with obs open (not even recording) i was looking at 60-ish frames standing in the lobby. Tried doing some brief gameplay and it ran at about 30-40fps and it obviously feels like there are huge drops not being tracked. At points if I alt tab all my monitors go black but I can tell the game is still running, sometimes image comes back after a few seconds other times I have to fully reboot.
I have also deleted some old scenes to try and fix the issue but even just staring at my desktop I could tell it was running slow.
Not sure what else to do to try and fix. my next steps were going to try and fully reinstall OBS and try again, but haven't yet as I just got a little too frustrated for that today. Figured I would put in a post as well while this stuff is fresh in my mind.
For reference my build is as follows.
CPU - Ryzen 9 7900X3D 4.4 GHz 12-core
GPU - RX 7900 XTX Pulse AMD 24GB GDDR6
MOBO - NZXT N7 B650E AM5
RAM - Trident Z5 64 GB DDR5-6000 CL30
Storage - 1tb 2280 PCIe x4 NVME (Plus more and a NAS)
PSU - Corsair RM1000x (2021)
I also run 3 monitors
last log file - https://obsproject.com/logs/ARaBDdxos6jqXquK
(idk why it has all the weird DSLR errors, I did remove that source from all scenes and retested but nothing changed)
I did also record the last time I tried running cs2 and obs together and I can upload that later if needed.
Also note that my recording path for obs is into my NAS though I am not sure if that would part of the issue as so is my radeon software relive and that doesnt affect my fps at all (that I am aware of).
