Are there any encoder setting that can improve my stream quality?
My Current OBS Settings
Res: 720p@60fps
Bitrate 3500
x264 preset : Medium
CPU usage: 70-80%
Custom Encoder setting: NONE

HW:
Streaming PC:
MOBA Asus Rampage IV Gene
GPU GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB/OC
CPU i7 3820 @4.3ghz
RAM 16gb Kingston 1666mhz

Gaming PC:
MOBA MSI GAMING 3
GPU MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB
CPU i7 4790k @ 4.8ghz
RAM 8gb Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz

Post a log file from a 5 minute or longer stream. Just saying your CPU usage and a few settings isn't useful enough information.

After you post your log, I would take a look at reversing the roles of your two PCs. the 4790K will be better for streaming and once you switch them, just put the GTX970 the rig with the i7 3820 for a gaming PC. Just my two cents

I wouldn't swap them... they're both 4/8 CPUs but the 4790k has faster cores. X264 is one of the best pieces of software you can run at utilizing all of your cores, but games are typically not. Games typically are much more dependent on raw clockspeed. Yes you can encode better on the 4790k, but it would still be a mistake to swap them unless you're running a game that is just as multi-threaded as x264 (not happening) or if its so light on the CPU that the difference in performance between the two systems for the game is negligible.

This analysis uses the concept of Absolute vs Comparative Advantage: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Absolute_advantage . The 4790k has an absolute advantage in gaming and encoding over the 3820, but the 3820 has a comparative advantage in encoding over the 4790k when assigning one or the other to gaming or encoding. Nothing can have a comparative advantage in everything, by the way.

Suffice to say IMO you have your two PCs correctly assigned.

This is also true as I wait for DX12 :) if said game works fine then either CPU should be able to handle his game, but if by chance he can get the room to drop to another preset, that would make the swap worth it. Again, not sure if that is possible on an OCd 4790k, its just something that I'd keep in mind.

Well this is intresting. i tested medium preset by previewing heavens benchmark from my other PC trought capture card. everything was smooth. and yes i do have checked Encoding while Preview. when i turned my stream on. i had huge problems with CPU too slow error. so i had to go down. even on fast it was troubling so i am on faster now and everything is smooth but CPU is not that busy at all.

about the CPUs. i would like to keep them this way. i have 144hz monitor so i want to have a lot of processing power so i want to be above 144fps in all situations. and in CS:GO you will be close to 170 fps in heavy situations with a lot of smokes. gunfire and Michael Bay stuff.

benchmarks often test more gpu and dont stress the cpu as much and csgo is more cpu intensive so that makes sense that med preset is to much.
