I have been fussing with elgato and OBS for hours now and I've read all kinds of threads and I can't seem to figure out the problem, no matter what I do it always seems to be a full second or two behind or worse. Please help me out.

it didn't seem to like when I tried to use a code tag so here is a pastebin

The external elgato devices are ALWAYS behind by between 0.7 and 1.5 seconds due to the fact that you can't squeeze a 720p signal into usb 2.0 without compressing it.

You need to use a usb 3.0, thunderbolt or PCI-E capture device if you don't want the delay.

And no, the elgato HD60 external is NOT any of those.

So my computer does have USB 3.0, and the hd60 is plugged into it. but the cable isn't a 3.0 that comes with the elgato hd60, if I get a 3.0 cable will that fix the issue? or does the elgato hd60 not support 3.0

EDIT:: nevermind, I googled.

Both Elgato external devices are USB 2.0

Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle, Startech USB3HDCAP, and several others for external.

You'll get better performance out of internals though.
