Hello,
I recently purchased the Elgato and have had it for about 3 weeks. After playing with a few settings, i can't seem to find out what the problem is. When i open the Elgato Game Capture Software, if i click "Live Streaming" It doesn't lag when i stream to twitch. However, i want to use OBS for twitch overlays, webcam, etc...
When i try to live stream using OBS, it always lags. I play a lot of Call of Duty so it is fast paced. I don't know why it would not lag when i live stream directly on the Elgato Program and lag when i use OBS. I am not nearly as advanced as some people within the settings so anything would be highly appreciated. In case you are wondering, my speed test result is

I assume you're talking about in-game, gameplay lag? That word is used by a lot of people to mean a lot of totally different things.

The Elgato may be using a (significantly) lower-quality hardware encoder to offload the 'heaviest' part of livestreaming to the device itself.
OBS cannot make use of any hardware encoders on your device. Additionally, using the Elgato on a single-system streaming setup will be LESS efficient than just using a Game Capture, or Window Capture.

We'd also need to see a log from a live streaming session (check the stickied thread at the top of this forum for instructions on how to get and post one) to offer further advice about your hardware and settings.

I would assume he's on console, and he's saying the elgato stream application looks better than OBS streaming. In which case it's a settings issue.

Thanks for the response. I actually have no problem when i play in-game. There is no lag when i play. What i mean is when i stream on OBS, it lags when i watch it on twitch. When i preview the stream, it tells me that i am skipping frames.

Yeah, your CPU is incredibly weak. You aren't going to be able to stream 720p@60fps. You need to aggressively downscale... 360p/240p, possibly drop framerate to 15-24fps, go to a faster encoding preset like Ultrafast until you stop duplicating/skipping frames.

Also, you're streaming over wifi. Stop that. Run a cable. Wifi is meant for light-duty usage on mobile devices, not the kind of stable data transmission that livestreaming demands. It's not an excuse to avoid running cables. Hell, it's not even a band-aid.
