Question / Help elgato dropping frames

I'm having a problem where the elgato input becomes choppy and drops frames

i suspect my cpu is overloaded with my settings and streaming + local recording simulataneously but yeah here's my log

Might not be able to handle the "faster" preset.

Is this for streaming or recording?

The recording profile should probably use the CRF-based bitrate selection and the ultrafast preset.

Veryfast is the default preset for obs and may be what you need to use on that machine for streaming.

meh, faster results in a noticeable increase in quality

ill run a test stream with veryfast and see if it stutters at all

CRF-based bitrate selection offsets the quality gain you'd normally get by eating disk space when using ultrafast. Using the proper settings allows the encoder to use all the bitrate it needs to retain quality.

Streaming is where the pain comes in, especially since you're on a laptop.
