Question / Help Editing local recordings

Hi,

I am looking at some problems starting out with my Video recordings. Sadly I am unexperienced with
video codecs and editing and thus would appreciate some guidance.

Unedited, I run into the following problems with my output files (in Mp4), that I would like to solve :

A) Upload on Youtube :
Quality drops for extended parts of the video

I currently suspect this is tied to the same issues as B) and will look into this after I uploaded some edited videos.

B) Editing with Lightworks :
Error at Import "Can't transcode media (codecs expect broadcast sizes/frame-rates)"
According to Lightworks Forums this is because my video does not comply with standard video formats.

My current settings result in a "MP4-Video" File of handable size with 30FPS, 1680/1050 resulution
and 1997kBit/s total Bitrate (according to Windows Details)

I am happy to provide any additional Information you might need.

OBS : v0.591b
Lightworks 11.1.1

[I will edit in Updates]

You can switch to Sony Vegas... Movie Studio is fine for what most people want to do, and its cheap, check Amazon, or free, get a 30 day trial from the Sony Vegas web site. Its what I use and I've had no problems.

As far as OBS goes, the only thing you MUST set is Constant Frame Rate to On / Yes. Almost all NLEs (non-linear editors, like Lightworks or Sony Vegas) require a constant framerate on their input videos. Vegas can handle 1680x1050, but that resolution may be less supported with other NLEs than something like 1920x1080.

As for YouTube, make sure to use their recommended H.264 settings found here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/1722171 . Also see my post here and the links within: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9806#p54931 . TL;DR: For best results render a lossless "intermediate" file with your NLE of choice and then use Handbrake to make the final encoding for YouTube.

FYI: If you want anyone to notice that your thread is active, you need to make replies, not just edit in updates.
