Question / Help Dummy VGA/DVI

I was looking into making one from a spare DVI to VGA adapter that I have, so I can run a full screen from my Rocket to get a full monitor capture without using an actual monitor. I was wondering if anyone has tried this. I would say this would be a temporary solution until we can get Happauge products to work directly into OBS. Thanks in advance.

I am not sure I understand. Ok, you want to create a DVI to VGA adapter. This can work for DVI-A ports as far as I know since:
  • DVI-D (digital only, single link or dual link)
  • DVI-A (analog only)
  • DVI-I (integrated, combines digital and analog in the same connector; digital may be single or dual link)
And then you want to use your Hauppauge Rocket? Which has only HDMI input.

But I guess you just want to fullscreen the Hauppauge software on a fake monitor, to then capture that fake monitor with OBS?

Check out steps 4 - 10. That will give you a "Virtual" Monitor I would call it, which should be capturable with OBS :)

Yes that exactly. Since I have to use a monitor capture. Or at least until OBS can take Happauge products directly.
