Question / Help Dropping frames with video playback?

Hey guys, lately I've been just doing some playback clips of some anime/hype fighting game moments but when I load up a video in VLC and fullscreen game capture it, the connections drops from green to red quickly and it'll continue jumping green to red sporadically. They're usually .mkv files, does OBS not work well with .mkv files or is it something else? Thanks

To fix issues with dropped frames, check this thread: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8870

Make sure to actually try all the things listed...I tell people to try everything all the time and they come back saying they have but it's clear they haven't.

Problem is that it's only the playback of the video that drops frames. I could stream FarCry 3 at almost max settings with 720p/60FPS and not have one dropped frame

If you keep using VLC, try opening the preferences, go to "Video" and change the "Output" setting to something else. I had to change it to "Direct2D video output" to make VLC stop losing frames on playback.
