Question / Help Dropped frames. Lots of testing already done.

Hello,

I've been browsing these forums for a long while now trying to figure out what my issue is but I'm dropping frames heavily. I've made it a bit better by toggling some settings but it's nowhere near where I want it to be.

OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Mobo: X58A-UD3R Gigabyte
Processor: i7 930 @2.80GHz (8CPUs), ~2.8GHz
RAM: 6144MB RAM
DirectX ver: DirectX 11
Vid card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670

Running 45 Down / 4 up line (speed tested several times)

Settings:

Max bitrate and Buffer: 2000
Audio Bitrate: 160


I'm not sure if I'm missing anything. I'm trying to stream League of Legends to Twitch.tv Any help is good help!

Oh, I also just now ran in to the issue that once I start streaming, the stream will freeze after about a minute as will the screen on the preview. Viewers still get sound but the video is frozen. It's also dropping my frames from 60 to 20-30 fluctuating.

Most of your log file is of a local recording, and the times you went live didn't show any dropped frames. Don't use monitor capture, especially with aero enabled. It's the worst capture method and should only be used as a last resort unless you're on Windows 8/8.1. Use window capture+aero or game capture instead. Also try downscaling your stream resolution to 1.25 or 1.50 to take some of the load off of your CPU.

I actually didn't even mean to be recording locally. I assume that's a pretty large part of the issue right there. I appreciate your help btw you're hella on the ball.

I looked in to how to stop local recordings and I never had it set to record locally and I still don't. Hopefully that's not a terrible issue but I don't want local recordings either way.

I also tried your advice with window capture, that improved it a bit then I tried with game capture and it was perfect. 60 fps no issues and then it just slowly declined and died out. It was still running so we're over the freezing issue but I would love to be able to keep it going at that quality for the whole time. Sending logs from the most recent one.

If you could put your logs on pastebin like the instructions outline, or at least put them behind a spoiler or something, that would be great. Also as I mentioned before you're going to want to either downscale, or drop your stream frame rate to 30, or both. Your CPU can't keep up with encoding a 1600x900 60 FPS video in real time while also running your game. If performance starts out fine but gets progressively worse that could also indicate a CPU cooling issue, if your CPU gets too hot it will throttle its speed to prevent damage.

Also, just saying, a 900p@60fps stream running at 2000kbps is going to look like ass.
Frozen, half-reheated, still-frozen-in-the-middle ass.
2000 is good enough for 720p@45fps at acceptable rates, better at 720@30.

For relative comparison on the CPU side, I'm running an i7 920. About the limit of what it can do is 720@60, or 1080@30 with a little creaking and wheezing, and a low-CPU game. Monitor your CPU temperature, stepping rate, and utilization. You'll probably find that you're overheating, especially if you're on the stock cooler (thing's a piece of crap, not designed for high-load usage).

You also should NEVER try to livestream over a wifi connection. It's prone to drops, interference, and frankly isn't a standard designed for stable, constant throughput. Suck it up and go wired.

You also appear to be using four graphics captures for some reason? Remember to disable any capture sources you aren't using by unchecking them in the 'sources' box. Leaving them checked, they'll still be initialized and use up resources capturing... nothing.
