Bug Report Driver Crash causes OBS Freeze and Corrupt file

Not sure if anything can be done to this.

But when a Driver Crash occurs, which can happen when using Flash Players as many knows, but also in some rare game occasions, this will cause OBS to freeze up (i think, or perhaps you can close it normally), The file will also be corrupt. It will be just a small file that can't be played (not sure why it's smalled, but i guess it not flushing to the HDD until it's done or something).

It would be great if this can be fixed, and in fixed i mean that OBS simply detects that it can't hook or use the GPU and will simply stop the recording and write the file.

I can't actually redo this, as i can't control the scenario in which this happens.

But it has happened twice, and both with the same results.

Save to FLV instead of MP4 to avoid a corrupt output file. There is no way for OBS to predict when you will have some system-specific issue like a driver crash.

Thought so much, just wondered if there was a way for OBS to be able to write the file, as the System isn't crashing, just the Driver. But as it's using the GPU i guess it would require a whole lot of effort to build a safe way.

Guess FLV is the option. Though kinda dislike it, as the Seeking is so damn slow;P

Yeah know, but when files are huge (50gb+), it's not That Fast;P
But it's just a convenience issue. It's not that big a deal, the seeking often workes after it's done once (even though it takes quite a while).

But still tried it and made OBS crash(or rather killed with Task Manager, which i guess is similar), and FLV does indeed survive. It doesn't have a Length though, which i guess can be blamed on the Header, but it can be remuxed to fix.

So it's a little saviour, will probably use it most of the time cause of this. Better safe than sorry;P

Thanks
