Question / Help Downsampling 60fps

Hello,

I have a question. What exactly is downsampling in OBS? How does it work?

These are my settings at the moment and my stream runs very smooth.

I found a Youtube VIdeo where someone said, i should use downsampling instead of normal 1280x720p AND use 60fps. Counter-Strike Global Offensive runs very smooth and my quality is good as well. But i still want to know what downsampling does on OBS.

Preset is "veryfast". On my next livestream im trying "faster" instead of "veryfast".

My Specc:

OS:Windows 7 64bit professionell
Motherboard:ASROCK Z77 Extreme6
CPU:i7-3770k @ 4,6ghz 1,292 Voltage Overclocked
Cooling:H105 Liquidcooling + Noiseblocker BlackSilent PL2 2x
Memory:GSKILL 8GB 2133mhz 8-10-10-24-2T
Hard Drive:120 GB SSD
Video Card:NVIDIA Geforce 770 GTX

Thanks in advance.

really your recordings are running smooth on 60fps? When I record on 60fps I have duplicated and skipped frames all over the place, but not if I set it to 59fps.

Can I see your settings?

But to your question, as far as I understand it, you can play on FULL HD wich results in a bigger view.
So if you downsample you can keep this bigger view in your videos but they will only have less pixel but still the view size remains as if you have Full HD on.

and about the preset, this is only important for filesize. the lower this is the more compression your video will have but it can Impact your recording performance by losing frames and higher impact on your CPU so you should stick to veryfast.
