Question / Help Distorted audio when using AAC (solved)

Hi there,

I've recently discovered OBS and I'm impressed with the quality of its recordings. So far my use is for high quality local recordings which I would like to edit with Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12. According to a thread in this forum you need to record audio in OBS using AAC to ensure compatibility with Sony's NLE. Unfortunately, when I use AAC my audio is distorted, or rather it plays back at perhaps 1/4 speed which makes the audio loose sync with the video and makes my voice sound extremely deep. When I record using Mp3 there is no issue with audio, but I can't import the video into Sony's NLE.

Is anyone able to help?

Thanks!

HJD

PS: It's late here, so I'm off to bed, but I will check back tomorrow morning.

Wow, that was fast!

Actually, I tried one last thing before wanting to go to bed, and it worked!! :-) Under "Encoding" I set "Channel" to "Stereo" instead of "Mono" and it worked! I had set it to "Mono" when I got distorted audio. I have no idea why it seemingly solved the problem. I've done a couple of tests now, and when I switch to "Mono" I get distorted audio and when I switch to "Stereo" I don't. So I'm happy now that I've found a workaround! :-)

Anyway, here is a link to a log file for a recording with distorted audio: http://pastebin.com/pKkjULL5

Thanks! And now I really am off to bed. See you!

Yes, that is a known bug with Mono audio. I didn't know it only affected AAC audio, though. Good to know.

Ah, okay, so it's a known bug. Yes, I only experienced distorted audio when using AAC. I'm happy with the workaround and so pleased with the software that I made a donation today. A big thank you to the developers and to you, dodgepong, and the other friendly people here in this forum who are eager to help! Greetings! :)
