Question / Help Disconnects (I read the post and still have problems)

I've been trying to stream and for the life of me I can't get the stream to work. I'll start off stating what I have, followed by what the problem is and what I've tried.

Laptop:
Asus K53E
Intel Core i5-2430M Processor 2.40 GHz
4 GB Ram
Intel HD 3000 Integrated Graphics (this has me concerned since I ALWAYS have problems with integrated graphics and programs not working correctly)

Internet Speed:
35 mbps down (35074 kbps)
4 mbps up (4168 kbps)
29 ms Ping

Capture Card:
Roxio Game Capture HD Pro (I know it isn't supported yet)

Console:
Playstation 3 (guess it doesn't really matter)

The problem I am running into is that I used both the window capture and the monitor capture to of course capture the preview screen of the Roxio since it's not supported yet. I adjusted it all and the preview is fine, but when I try to stream to my twitch channel it disconnects after about 23 seconds and reconnects. I read the post and I've tried lowering the bitrate even down to 1000 kpbs, I've dropped the fps to 30, I've changed servers, I've reset my stream key, my internet isn't being throttled, and I've even tried other programs. I can get xsplit to stream, but it says I'm dropping frames. I'm not sure if it's due to the integrated graphics or the fact that I WAS using wireless but NOW It's wired. I followed the settings guide exactly and I still can't get OBS to stream. The only thing I haven't tried is disabling Aero simply because the Roxio preview screen will NOT work without Aero, which would defeat the purpose of a window/monitor capture. I've uploaded various logs in the automatic log checker and sometimes it'll say I've dropped frames or need to disable Aero and other times it says there are 0 problems.

As I've said, I don't know if it's due to my laptop or what. Another thing, for some reason I can't stream with the Roxio's built in software as of last night (probably due to twitch's video changes yesterday). I'll be live, but the video won't show even though other streams show fine. I say this because I don't know if this correlates to my problem with OBS, even though xsplit works...I just don't like xsplit though. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance to anyone who has any input.

The 10060 disconnect error in the log is almost always a firewall or antivirus interfering. Try disabling any of those types of software you might have temporarily and see if you can connect.

I disabled my antivirus and firewall, but it did not work. Could it be something with my router, possibly?

Hmm, could be. Go through everything in this post: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8870. It has a few extra things to try (including plugging into modem directly to bypass router)

I'll have to try connecting directly to the modem later, other members in the house are on the primary computer. As for the router/antivirus/firewall, I added exceptions to each of them and it still didn't work. I forwarded the port even though it says you shouldn't need to, I added obs.exe to the antivirus exception list, and I added both an exception of obs.exe to the firewall and the port number as well. I don't know why xsplit will work, but obs won't. Not to mention the problems with twitch itself. When I got it to stream with xsplit there were buffering issues with the site, when I stream with the roxio's software the video won't even load so it's like all 3 of them have some problem that the others don't. Thanks for helping though, hopefully we can figure something out.

Just wanted to post a follow up. Fortunately I am now able to stream to twitch. I'm guessing it was a problem on twitch's end since I changed nothing and the next day it worked perfectly. I also found a way to disable Aero while using the Roxio without it blacking out the preview screen, which in turn would make monitor capture useless. Basically I had to use a second monitor with the Roxio in full screen preview mode BEFORE launching OBS on the second monitor. That way when Aero disables, the preview still displays and monitor capture can do its thing. Hopefully the integration with the Roxio will come soon (no rush of course), but at least I can get the ball rolling at this point.

Excellent, glad to see things ended up getting sorted for you. As for the Roxio being directly supported, it probably won't be until sometime earlyish next year. OBS is currently undergoing a complete rewrite, and one of the top priorities is getting currently unsupported devices like Hauppauge and Roxio working directly.

I don't mind waiting, I'm just glad I'll be able to use something else instead of Roxio's built in software that they seem to have abandoned. I get better quality and performance from OBS monitor capture and that's already a much better alternative :D
