Question / Help Diablo 3 settings: stream+record

Hi all,

A few questions about recording Diablo 3 while concurrently streaming it to Twitch via OBS:

  • This Twitch OBS guide says, "FPS is recommended to be 30. Note that 720p at 60 frames per second for some games will look better than low bitrate 1080p at 30 FPS." I'm curious if anyone can chime in on whether Diablo 3 streaming is better suited at 720p x 60fps, or 1080p x 30fps?
  • I'm at work, but I think I'm currently running at 1080p x 30fps at ~3,000 bit rate. I noticed Diablo's UI is sharp no matter what, but there's lots of compression on the moving background when I'm at 30fps. If I up it to 60fps, this goes away but then the Twitch stream lags (at least when I'm watching it.)
In the end, I'm looking for best-case, optimal settings for concurrently recording and streaming D3 (bitrate, resolution, fps).

1080p30fps vs 720p60fps is pretty much a matter of which one you like better. Personally, I prefer the higher framerate and smoother motion that 720p60fps provide, and don't care nearly as much as 1080p.

If your stream is lagging/buffering while watching it, that's a bitrate issue, not really a resolution/FPS issue, unless you are trying to do 1080p60fps. Flash generally has playback issues with that resolution/FPS combo.
