Hows it going everyone, for the past few weeks I been researching on the forums to get a solid answer on some questions regarding a dedicated streaming pc, and cant seem to find any. Ok so ill jump right into it. Is an i7 really necessary for a dedicated stream build? or will an i5 be more than enough? The two processor specifically that I'm considering are the i5 6600 and the i7 6700, currently have them both set with 8 gigs of DDR4, integrated graphics and a SSD. With the i7 the price comes to slightly over my budget, though still doable. Would I be better off to go with the i5 and bump up the ram to 16 and invest in a PCIe cap card? My main concern is to have 720/30 (maybe 1080 in the future) without any dropped frames/lag/buffering, and if the only way to do that is with the i7 then i have no other choice, but if its overkill, id rather invest the money elsewhere. Also on a side note, is pc will NOT be for gaming, all my gameplay will come from console. Thank you for your help, even though i couldn't find my answer on the OBS forums, the community has helped with many other questions, I appreciate it.

with 60 fps i would say i7 all the way, and DDR4 i would say 16 instead of 8 :)

i7 is worth the extra money for sure. PCIe capture card is worth it over USB, too. I'd rather have an old i7 2600k from ebay than a new i5 6600k for a dedicated streaming PC. Having a lot of ram isn't important. Having an SSD is probably undesirable compared to having a large capacity hard drive for saving recordings to. And remember OBS requires a semi-decent GPU (GTX 460, 550ti, 650, or the AMD equivilents, or better, is my rule of thumb).

Also, if you can get it shipped to your location, check this out for a video capture card: http://www.ebay.com/itm/391442229643 ... you need a PCIe 4x slot on whatever motherboard you get, and need to route audio separately, but there's no better capture card you can get for the money.
