Question / Help CSGO fps lowering while streaming

Hi all quick question i see quite alot of the pro streamers who stream csgo having 300-600 fps while streaming csgo. When i play csgo without streaming i get around 250-300 fps. While steaming i drop to around 150 fps, with my pc specs i thought i would get higher fps.
PLEASE NOTE I GET NO FRAME DROPS FROM OBS OR ANY PROBLEMS ITS JUST PURELY WANTING TO MAKE CSGO RUN SMOOTHER WHILE STREAMING.

I am streaming at 720p 60fps (highest grade latitude i think its called) at 2k bit rate.

PC Specs :- Intel i5 4690k, 16gb ram and Nvidia 770 gpu

Any advice/help would be appreciated even if its telling me my fps sounds about right for the pc build

please post a log.

and most of the big csgo streamers are running streaming machines or have high end workstations

quick info csgo is runnin off a cpu based engine and since streaming is also very cpu intensive the little i5 tends to drop performance on games etc especially on csgo.

limiting your csgo fps can help with more stable fps.

usually its not recommended streaming higher than 720p30 on i5 cpus while playing cpu intensive games.


a nice work around is using qsv and offload the encoding on the igpu

use scene buffering time of 700 (default value)

and stream at 720p30 instead of 720p60

see how the game is running and test for a couple of minutes then post a new log

You can also limit the amount of cores in use by CS:GO, while the game will eat CPU resources if available, you can limit the game within the launch option parameters and still get a solid experience. However the statement above about high workstations or secondary PC's is pretty true for most streamers. Also the i5 while amazing at gaming is fairly weak at gaming and streaming. It's a fast quad core, no hyper threading, and maintains its performance in single threaded applications much better. Now while not faster in gaming or in benchmarking the AMD 8cores will actually handle the load of streaming and gaming a bit better for a cheaper option, but if you're buying i5 prices then something like a Xeon e3 1241 v3 or 5 or something would give you the more or less an i7 for the price of an i5.
