Hey guys I am a new youtuber and have decided to use OBS as my starting or forever lasting program depending on how this thread goes. I am asking for some help on what settings I should use, perhaps photo links or gyazo screenshots would help but written seems just fine. I want to record CS:GO at 60fps in 1080p note that I want to record it and not stream it. I am wondering what settings I should use as all the combinations that I come up with seem to have a problem of some sort, so I will tell you guys my pc specs below, note also that it is a laptop...

Alienware 15:
Intel Core i7-4720HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz overclock to 3.40GHz
8gb RAM
64bit OS
Windows 10
Nvidia GTX 970M
1920x1080p screen obviously

If I have left anything out please tell me so and I will add it in. Also note that I will try out all settings that are sent to me and if they don't work I will simply say so that others who have the same problem will be able to determine the best settings for them as well.

Current Best Settings:

ENCODING
x264 Encoder
Use CBR - Checked
8000kb/s
CBR Padding - Checked
Use Custom Buffer Size - Unchecked

VIDEO
No Downscale
60fps

ADVANCED
Multithread - Checked
Priority Class - Normal
Scene Buffer Time - 400ms
Disable encoding while previewing - Unchecked
Allow Modifiers - Checked
x264 CPU Preset - VeryFast
Encoding Profile - High
Interval - 0s
CFR - Checked
Custom x264 Encoder Settings - Checked - crf=15
Encode in Full Range - Unchecked
Allow 61-120 FPS entry in video settings - Unchecked

REST OF ADVANCED IS ALL UNCHECKED

Thanks for all help that will be given to me!
(Sorry if the thread is a bit long!)

Dude thanks for the post but I still experience some freezing even with crf set to 0 which it said is lossless recording. But I still experience some freezing issues. I want personal settings for my computer if you can. If not please direct me to another thread explaining what I need to do, I would prefer for someone to give me personal settings rather than looking at what everyone uses...

You shouldn't really be going below crf of 15.

Also try the x264 preset set to ultrafast and actually following the guide's settings.

Also, post the obs log.

Not seeing anything in the logs that indicate that freezing is happening.

Nvenc and QuickSync offer worse quality per bitrate, but with it being for recording, you can just throw bitrate at that problem until the problem goes away.

With your computer being a laptop, it gets complicated for dealing with quicksync, but you can assign the qsvhelper application that OBS uses for quicksync to the intel graphics adapter in your nvidia control panel.

So then what should I do. I have been consulting the internet and it says obs mp is much better so should I use that?
