CPU Usage on Linux

Hey everyone,

I would like to know why OBS Studio takes more CPU Usage than on Windows. I have rebuild the one of the Scene in Linux with the same sources. On Windows while being idle (no recording or streaming) the scene takes about 0,5% and on Linux it takes about 11% of CPU Usage.

OBS Version is on both OSes 30.0.2 while on Linux is the Flatpak version installed.

Linux OS Information:
OS: EndeavourOS (Arch Based)
Kernel: 6.6.9-arch1-1

Windows OS 11

If anyone can give me some hints or help to that matter I'm thankful for that.

Different systems use resources differently. Hardware manufacturers write different drivers with different functionality (if at all) for each. The self-reporting might be different. Etc. And the curve itself, of hardware use compared to actual work done, might have a different shape.

System load is a similar *concept* from one system to another, but you really can't compare the details. As long as it works, it works. Use what works for you.

Also, I would not be concerned with a high, dead-flat constant load, if you happen to be there. "Spiky" loads need some headroom, but constant ones can go right up to about 90% or so and still be just fine...so long as it actually *is* constant.

Ah okay thank you for the explanation. There were nothing spiky and everything is constant and smooth. I was just wondering about it, since it was the same scene with the same sources.
Thank you again!
