So i've been streaming (hearthstone and heroes of the storm) for less then a month now and everything was peachy.

Now i tried streaming some different games (division, warhammer end times vermintide)) and the whole pc just shuts down both on 1080 and 720.

The weird thing is, i can local record everything just fine with OBS but as soon as i start streaming this happens, infact i just recorded a new ittle dew ep yesterday with OBS.

My speccs are:

If your system is shutting down due to overheating then you need to fix your cooling issue.

eh right, thing is it jumps up 10 degrees while streaming right outta nowhere. I mean at 720 it was stable at around 65 c and then it suddenly jumped and the pc shut down.

EDIT: also why would it record just fine but shut down while streaming ? it's not like one is more intensive then the other is it ?

It doesn't really matter what you're doing with OBS or any other program. If your heatsink/fan isn't capable of keeping things at acceptable temperatures you need to find out why and fix it. That it happens with streaming but not recording is novel but it doesn't change the presence of the cooling issue.

i see, i just found it weird that it does this while streaming but not while recording.
Because you are probably using the ultrafast Preset when Recording which puts way less CPU Usage into Encoding compared to streaming on veryfast.

The 8350 shouldnt shut down at ~75°C since its throttle kicks in at usually around 84°C and shutdown is at 93-97°C while the max limit is at 103-104°C

Unfortunately, my FX 8350 with Asus Sabertooth 990FX R 2.0 seems to shut down at around 75 C.
It may be Asus' fault for hard coding a CPU shut down temp into their BIOS...

Maybe it got well higher, but remember one day when the CPU temp wasn't climbing that fast and it still shut down!

(When running the x264 HD 5.0x benchmark)
