Question / Help Could not initialize DirectX 10 on AMD Radeon HD 7900

I have used OBS for some weeks now but after the latest update I got an error:

"Could not initialize DirectX 10 on AMD Radeon HD7900. This error can happen for one of the following reasons:
1.) Your GPU is no supported (DirectX 10 is required - note that many integrated laptop GPUs do not support DX10).
2.) You're running Windows Vista without "Platform Update".
3.) Your video card drivers are out of date.

I ahve checked everything can't find anything wrong.

Please help. This is driving me crazy. Thanks in advance

It sounds like OBS is running on your integrated GPU. If you go into Catalyst Control Center and set OBS to run on the high performance GPU then hopefully that will fix it.

The latest update wouldn't cause this, we didn't change anything at all for the graphics stuff.

If you see this and are on a desktop, you probably just need to update your video drivers.

Where do I find this?

Actually, I just realized the error specifically stated that it couldn't initialize on the AMD Radeon HD7900 so that's probably not the issue. I'd check for updated drivers, like Jim said.

Posting a log would show what video cards you have in your computer: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=97

I too am having the same error dialog. But mine says just Intel(R) HD Graphics. I have done everything I can think of to resolve this issue. Drivers are all up to date, I have Direct x11, and am running windows 7. Please if anybody has a fix for this that would be great.

If you get an error that says "Could not initialize DirectX 10 on [your GPU]", then your graphics card does not have sufficient support for DirectX 10. It does not matter if you have newer versions of DirectX software installed; your hardware does not support the necessary features, and no you cannot do anything about it apart from upgrading it.
