Hello people,

Recently I have made a Tutorial for people on a Youtube video to show people how to download, install and configure OBS to use it for recording.

However I woke up and I currently have a copyright strike from Boomstick.tv, copy of the claim can be found here:

Dear Stefan Brand,

Due to a copyright claim can no longer generate income with the following YouTube video. The video can be played on YouTube, but the copyright owner can choose to display the video ads.

Video Title: How To: Record Gameplay with OBS, add a Webcam, Text & Settings explained [FULL Tutorial]
Includes: Visual content
Claimed by: Boomvideotv Affiliate

possible reasons

Your video may contain copyrighted material.
A copyright claim can ensure that you can generate with a given video no income.

Visual content managed by: 0:19

----------------------------------------------

For this video I show people the webpage: https://obsproject.com/ so they can download it there.

Could someone tell me what I did wrong or why this is or is not a copyright strike??

Normally I am very carefull with copyright issues and for this video I used:
- only my own recordings
- I didn't use any music
- I refer to settings, record how to setup and install OBS for recording

The youtube video I created:
http://youtu.be/kesrxM9z2z4

If someone could explain if Boomstick.tv is also from the OBS webpage or OBS itsself that would be nice so I can take action accordingly.

With kind regards,

Stefan Brand

Boomstick.tv is not affiliated with OBS, and my guess is that they triggered the copyright claim over the gameplay footage, or if they were even dumber, then from the scrolling games on OBS's home page. It sounds like a copyright troll trying to take your ad money. Unfortunately, YouTube makes it very easy for people who don't own the content in a video to make a copyright claim over it and deny you your revenue. You will have to take it up with YouTube.

Thank you for the reply dodgepong, according to the claim it starts at 0:19, so scrolling from the webpage made the claim?
The small portion of gameplay I used is my own gameplay.

Would it be a safe bet to dispute the claim and if so with what options?

Thank you so much dodgepong for the (quick) reply you made me a little less scared about a copyright claim.

With kind regards,

Stefan

Yes, you should be able to dispute the claim. I'm not sure what you mean by "what options" but I can pretty much guarantee you that Boomstick.tv does not have any claim to any of the content in your video. (Assuming you didn't take any material from them, of course...)

Sorry I didn't specify the ''what options'' that was very silly of me.
I meant there are different options to choose from to dispute the claim for a specific reason, I have selected what I think suits the best and we will see if they remove the claim. (currently it is named a ''Content ID'' claim)

I have to wait a month before boomvideotv removes their ads from my video, so all I can do right now is wait while the video is up.
The whole video is recorded from my own PC using my own voice, camera and showing how to record and setup so I can't see why that company could keep on placing ads on my video.

Thanks again for the reply, dodgepong..!

OT:
Is there a spot where I could post my ''How-To'' tutorial so people could use that ,if they want?

Can't see any ads on it (unless it's region specific? I'm from the UK) so it looks like they might have already acted upon it.

I have NO idea what is going on...
I haven't had ANY issue with youtube or google+ since the day I started but now:

I have a false content_ID claim and even worse, google+ sent me an email that I am now 2 weeks blocked because I supposedly posted spam or unwanted content on google+ (My last post is about the OBS tutorial)

What this means is: I can not reply to _any_ comment from people watching my videos nor sending them a private message. If I continue doing this (automated reply) all my google/youtube content will or could be closed. ;-(

Walking trough all rules and FAQ I can not figure out what is going wrong.

Does anyone know how to really speak to a person? Google+ official page does not work because I am blocked and with twitter I am not having luck aswell.

I believe something is going wrong and I want to fix it but I do not know how. Any tips or help is welcome

With kind regards,

Stefan
