Try removing any 3rd party firewall / security software and reboot / bypass your router.

What do you mean by this? I am also having the same problem. I made the switch from Xsplit and its been about a month I have been using OBS. All of a sudden today I was streaming and it went haywire and would not even let me stream. Its not my cpu or internet. Here is video in the beginning you can see it run at 60 fps now it is at 20 and even later today it would on go to 58 and I did nothing. Can you please explain what is going on?

Re: Constant disconnects

You're going to have to explain what you mean by "it went haywire and would not even let me stream" since that can mean pretty much anything. A log file would be helpful.

Tried streaming again, the issue still persists. I don't see how disabling my internet security was supposed to help, as ive been using the same package for quite some time, and it worked back then (AVG)

Thanks for the suggestions, but my stream is still unwatchable

Where do you find a log file? As I stated I think there is something wrong with OBS. I know a lot of people that are having the same problem. Yesterday all of a sudden it just stop working. Everything has been fine but I went from 60 fps to 20 than not even working without me changing anything. I have already stated it is not my cpu or internet. I will try streaming today and see what happens.

There were no disconnects in this log, was this the latest one?

I do notice you have a ridiculous amount of lagged frames, and that's likely because you are trying to use Monitor Capture. Avoid that at all costs on Windows 7. Use either Game Capture or Window Capture with Aero enabled. Also, your bitrate/buffer settings don't really make any sense, you should keep them more even. I recommend 3000/3000. 5000/1000 is very likely hurting your quality a lot.

What do you mean Monitor Capture? I have been using that setting 5000/1000 for a month and have had no problems

To understand the difference between using 1500 and 2000 as your Video Encoding Bitrate and why I am using double that value as your VBV Buffer, you need to know how they are used, so here's a quick overview:

Your Video Encoding Bitrate (VBV Max Bitrate) should be set to match your available upload bandwidth while matching the resolution - For 480p: 500 - 1000kbps, for 720p: 1500 - 3000kbps and for 1080p: 3000 - 5000 kbps. However, your viewers need to have a connection that can keep up with your selected bitrate so don't set it higher than what your viewers' internet connections can manage.

Just curious to see what you say this is my internet speed what should I be using as for as you say 3000 to 3000

My ping is 25 sec

Download is - 195.83 Mbps

Upload is - 42.50 Mbps

First of all, like HomeWorld said, there is no customer service. Are you a customer? If so, what did you pay for this? As far as I know this is an open source project, and everybody here is part of a community of people who want to take time out of their day to help out other people. This type of attitude is not really fitting, and definitely does not help towards getting help from random users, who do this purely because they like to help people.

Now, back to your question. Krazy was asking about the big difference between your bitrate and your buffer size. From what I gather from your answer, you want to use a buffer double your bitrate, but in your latest stream you weren't quite. You were using 5000 bitrate, and 1000 buffer, that's one fifth, rather than double. Furthermore, 5000 is pretty aggressive, when streaming at 720p. 3000 bitrate is plenty, you really don't need more, as it will only cause the viewers that have less awesome internet connections to be unable to decently watch your stream.

As for buffer sizes, there are plenty of theories going around. The one that generally works is: don't change it. Buffer size can be the same as your bitrate, this is the default in OBS, and there is a checkbox that you need to tick to actually change buffer size from the bitrate.

Furthermore, from the log I do see that a disconnect happened. OBS does not randomly cause disconnects. This means something in the connection between you and the twitch server you are using is instable. The thing you can generally try then, is switch to another ingest server. But again, I do see you are using LA secondary, which is pretty much the best in America.
