Hi all.
I use OBS for recording VR footage via Oculus mirror on my PC .
Over the last few months , now and then I have clicking in the audio in recordings .
The next time I use it may not happen… it happens anytime in the recording… one minute its fine… then the clicking starts .
Im not using any mic… that's muted .
I lowered the recording volume too and still happens .
I can give a link to video if helps… .. just let me know
Any help most appreciated
Karl

I haven't heard it so much anymore, but it used to be a problem that a poorly-done audio rig would pick up a cell phone searching for a tower. That's a fairly high-power radio transmission, from a phone that is close by, and it's surprisingly hard for the inexperienced (or apathetic) to NOT make an accidental radio receiver. So that high-power close radio transmission gets into a mic channel somewhere, or the connection between the sound board and the amps, or wherever, and you get a series of clicks or buzzes every once in a while. It's quite distinctive for those who heard it back in the day, but it's a bit like the dial-up modem sound now: those who remember the original are becoming a smaller part of the population.

A recording would confirm or eliminate that, and possibly whatever else it might be.

You can hear it at beginning of this recording

Not being familiar with that game, I'd be tempted to call it part of the in-game sound effects. Not intrusive to me at all. So I'm having a hard time picking it out.

Can you post something that is supposed to be silent, except for that noise?

Never happens when its silent… and def not in game audio.
Now think about it… it only happens in that game… nothing else… I know can go a week with issue then happens for no unknown reason… if I play non vr games it seems fine.
Wonder if it just that game then ..will have to check audio settings in game

In that case, I wonder if it's a sync issue. Naively dropped or stuffed samples can "click" too, because the difference between adjacent samples is now wrong for the frequency content that was supposed to be there. And of course that would be inaudible with silence. (dropping/stuffing samples in a string of zeroes, is still a string of zeroes) How are you capturing the game audio in OBS?

Im capturing my game audio through a Window Capture of Oculus Mirror and PC audio output is set to Oculus headset .
I airlink my quest 2 to my pc.
All other games i play on it are fine ...only that game now i think about it.
I play and record normal games and vr games without an issue ...just that game ( No Man's Sky ) has this issue.

By the way ... the noise is only in the recording ...never here it in my headset.

That doesn't quite make sense to me. It seems to assume prior experience with your specific tools that I don't have, but it sounds to me like you have another case of the problem that is covered by the 4 links in my previous post.

Can you draw a technical block diagram?

I have looked at links… but not seem to match my issue exactly… im thinking there must be something with the game itself causing audio issue with OBS… or with mirror software… think best to try changing a few settings and see what happens .
I know no man's sky is hard on pc in vr… so wonder if that causes issue… bit stumped lol
Prob best just to ignore it lol… but will have a play
