Bug Report Chroma Key Pick Screen Color Bug?

I might be simply missing something, but when I use "Pick Screen Color" I can only select colors inside of the actual color picker. I can't click and select a color from any of my sources in OBS.

This isn't truly a bug as it is a missing feature. When adjusting the chroma key filter I have to use a different program to pick the RGB or HTML color value and then put it into OBS. I'd be super helpful if the color picker had the eye dropper feature to pick a color from a video source (or any part of the screen.

i don't think this is a missing feature... It appears to be a bug at least on the Mac version. Works fine on the windows version. If you choose "pick screen color" it only lets you move your mouse around the screen with all the swatches on it... What good is that? I need to be able to pick a color from my video feed on the preview pane... Like I said, windows version works perfectly, mac not...

SOLUTION: It works the same as in Photoshop. Click on the color window and drag the cursor to the part of the screen where the color you want to sample is.

The issue we've all been talking about is that on Mac, you *cannot select a color outside of the Key Color window*.

See video example below. As soon as the cursor leaves the Key Color window / box, the Pick Screen Color action is no longer active.

Did you find a solution to this? I think I mistakenly clicked deny when it asked for access and now I cannot use the pick screen color tool :-(

I'm having the same problem. I was following a tutorial where I could see this used to work fine, but it doesn't work anymore in July 26, 2020

EDIT: and I think I found the reason why is not working:

When you pick a color, lets say: #000000 (black)

it automatically chooses: #ff + 000000

Same. OSX High Sierra - OBS ver. 25.07 (64 bit). I heard there was a new version of OBS with some game changers. Anyone know if this has been fixed in Mac version. I have had some issues with NDI and using different versions of OBS on a Mac, so that's a concern as well. Not worth taking a chance on the green screen bug fix, if NDI starts acting up again.

Videar solution #9 absolutely works in Catalina and is completely unintuitive.
1. Press Pick Screen Color
2. Left-click inside the color chooser AND HOLD DOWN the left click button while moving the cursor to the part of the screen you want to pick the color from.
3. Release the mouse button
4. Click Ok

Note that this only works once you've granted screen recording permission to OBS and restarted OBS.

Thanks Jim... this worked for me.
As you said, totally unintuitive. I can't imaging what you were doing when you discovered this, but thanks, for sharing the workaround.

This issue is still not resolved with OBS v27. How is that possible?
Bug has been reported in 2016, maybe even earlier.
Fortunately, jimshank's solution still works.
But I do not understand why they can't fix this.

Still an issue as of Jan 10, 2022. The Mac development on this project is really suffering. Thank goodness the workaround mentioned above still works.
