Question / Help Capture device/card recommendations

Hi folks,

I'm after your recommendations on capture device/cards. A while back I had an elgato HD which seemed to work fine but I didn't do any streaming through OBS, just used elgato's own software. I sold that a while back as I moved and wasn't going to do any streaming for quite some time. I picked up an elgato HD60 last week and it's a pile of junk and already on its way back for a refund - so my faith in elgato has significantly diminished.

I'm looking for something that works in the 64bit version of OBS. I've got a pretty high spec pc (I'm a game developer), running Windows 7. Streaming wise it'll be the usual consoles through HDMI. Not fussed as to whether its an internal card or external device.

So, whatcha recommend?

At the moment I'm trying to decide between:

1. another elgato hd (not the hd60)
2. friends mentioned the Avermedia Live HD Gamer
3. other friends mentioned the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro

They all seem fairly similar spec/features, so I'm at a bit a of a loss as to what to go for.

Any help is most appreciated!

Thanks :)

Internal devices are significantly better than external devices, so you should be fussed over it.

The best capture card for console streaming is pretty much universally recognized to be the Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI on these forums. If you don't care about capturing 1080p60 and you'll never have to switch away from HDMI (no Playstation 3, for example), then the Avermedia Live Gamer HD should be fine.
