Question / Help Can't stream DayZ SA

Hello everyone !

I don't know why, but I can't stream DayZ SA (Standalone). The only thing I've got is a black screen. I tried everything (run as administrator, running the beta of OBS,...).

This is quiet strange because everything is normal with GeForce Shadowplay.

Black screens can occur for a number of reasons, almost always just due to misconfiguration, or typical laptop issues. I would need a log file of the problem to be able to help you with the problem, I highly doubt this is a bug. Also, of note is that you may want to make sure to run OBS as admin, as sometimes it can't hook to certain games without you doing so. Also, sometimes it's necessary to use the game capture hotkey, but that shouldn't be the case.

Refer to the stickied thread at the top of the Questions and Help forum for instructions. Or the link when creating a new thread, that advises posting a logfile if you are having an issue. Or the one when using the 'post reply' button at the bottom of the thread.

Interesting, it's not capturing at all for you even though it gets into the program as it should, at least according to the bottom of the log. I haven't seen this happen before. Hilalpro might be right, you don't have any other capture programs active on your computer, do you? Any other capturing programs like fraps/shadowplay, or any overlay programs or anything perhaps, like teamspeak or mumble overlays? You need to shut them completely down first if so.

It might not be fully shut down. You might have to make sure it's killed first in task manager, and then restart the game and OBS.

I uninstall GeForce Experience - so I'm sure Shadowplay isn't running - but now I've no image at all (no more blackscreen).

Isn't having no image at all pretty much the same thing as black screen? Could you post a log now that you've disabled that stuff? (Also pretty sure you didn't have to uninstall it)

Hmm, okay, it's still doing that same thing, it's getting into the game, but it doesn't start up capture properly. I'm really curious as to why this is happening for you.

I asked another person I know who has DayZ standalone if there were problems, and he didn't report any, he said it was running fine, so there must be something going on with it.

Maybe it's because of the configuration of the game itself. I would be curious to know what is the one of your friend.

I have the game, and game capture works for me with both the game capture hotkey, and when selecting the game itself. Do note, however, that the game is fullscreen-only, to my knowledge, which means it will appear black or frozen in the preview if you alt tab out of the game on a single-monitor setup.

The in-game settings themselves shouldn't affect OBS's ability to capture the game.

I feel very stupid right now, because it works ! I thought there was a problem because when I was ALT tabing I was seeing a black screen. :D

Thanks for your help guys, you do an incredible job !

I am having the same problem streaming DayZ Standalone on a one-monitor setup.

Other games show up in game capture--DayZ Standalone is the only one that does not. I do, however, get the sound of the game coming through stream.

My system spec:

Windows Vista 64
ASUS Asrock MB
AMD 280X
8 Gig ram
Download: 12mbs
Upload: 1.10 mps (which is low I realize, but I've set this correctly in OBS. I'm contacting my ISP to increase this soon).

I've set my configs for OBS exactly how they should be, following several video tutorials. As I said other games work, but DayZ SA does not. Perhaps because the game has no option to put it in windowed mode? My friend streams DayZ SA just fine, however, he has a two-monitor setup, perhaps that works around it?

Also, on a side note, I can't get my webcam to stay on. I've made sure it is at the top of the scenes list, but everytime I switch to game mode (just below it), the light on my webcam goes off, and the capture disappears from my stream.
